Seems that quite a few priests don’t have a lot of love for Father Corapi and EWTN, do you think?originally posted by **alanjeddy **
Several months ago while at confession I asked the priest what we could do to get more people to go to confession? The first thing out of his mouth was: “you sound like that guy on EWTN
( Father Corapi) You my judgemental crusader and I are going to get into a fight, so I am going to give you absolution for your sins”.
He told me you are never going to see the church the way it was in the 40’s or 50" of course he was refering to pre-Vatican 2 days.
I said father there is so much disunity in the church, the flock has indeed been scattered and many of us are on a path of distruction.
They couldn’t stand Bishop Sheen either, by the way.Seems that quite a few priests don’t have a lot of love for Father Corapi and EWTN, do you think?
We just watched Father Corapi tonight. He’s amazing!
My husband and I recently changed parish and at this one, they have leaflets promoting EWTN. Hopefully it’s a good sign.

I can’t imagine ever comparing Bishop Sheen with Fr. Corapi. I love listening to Bishop Sheen. Fr. Corapi is ok but I often find his sort of preaching off putting. They couldn’t stand Bishop Sheen either, by the way.![]()
What I meant here is that there were many of Bishop Sheen’s colleagues (other bishops) as well as priests who would have rather spit at their television set than to listen to him. They accused him of everything from arrogance to full of himself to “who does he think he is pretending to represent the rest of us”?I can’t imagine ever comparing Bishop Sheen with Fr. Corapi. I love listening to Bishop Sheen. Fr. Corapi is ok but I often find his sort of preaching off putting.
And no, I don’t mind a priest “telling the truth” it’s how they preach it that makes all the difference. Bishop Sheen has warmth, love and understanding in everything he says.
I actually met Father Corapi during a two day seminar in Lowell, MA a couple of months ago. I got to shake his hand and talk very briefly with him. I have never met any priest who exudes so much of the Holy Spirit. He is charismatic and a wonderful, eloquent speaker. It is interesting to note that his mentor was Bishop Sheen.I can’t imagine ever comparing Bishop Sheen with Fr. Corapi. I love listening to Bishop Sheen. Fr. Corapi is ok but I often find his sort of preaching off putting.

I can’t see how anyone could not see the warmth and understanding in Father Corapi. He is one of the true living saints of our times.I can’t imagine ever comparing Bishop Sheen with Fr. Corapi. I love listening to Bishop Sheen. Fr. Corapi is ok but I often find his sort of preaching off putting.

Vatican II would disagree with you.I think that we are wrongly representing the Church when we make issues such as the language used in the liturgy so important. The Pope did not say that the mass should always or even ever have to be said in Latin. He said that it can be said in Latin on occasion. Otherwise it is just fine and good in the vernacular.
Very true, and up until 1970, all nationalities in the Roman Rite heard their Masses in Latin. There is something to be said of a universal language for a universal Church. We are each one important to him whoever and whatever race or nationality.
Sixty years ago, there were far more illiterate people. Somehow that wasn’t a problem then.If someone is unable for some reason to study or learn Latin, why should that person be left out of the liturgy? They may be able to follow in a missal but what if they are unable to read? And should young children not be encouraged to take part in the mass? They will not understand Latin.
Lex orandi lex credendi…There are far greater issues that need to be addressed within the Church. We need to be on our guard against teachings of the Church being ignored.
I wouldn’t call this unimportant. Ever heard of save the liturgy, save the world? The liturgy is in a dismal situation, something that it has never really been in. Pope Benedict XVI agrees. Fixing the liturgy is definitely something that is very important.Let’s not get stuck on details that are unimportant.
repeated second time.
I believe that we have bigger problems than whether or not the liturgy is in Latin.
A while ago my family and I had a meal with our parish priest. In conversation I mentioned the love that one has for a child. My daughter had a cat and she loved that cat dearly. I told her that the love for her child was going to be far greater than the love she had for her cat. She was offended. I was expecting our priest to agree with me but instead he rebuked me. He said that love is love and that I should not make light of it.
This is an issue that has come up in the younger generation many times. They talk as though animals are equal to humans in importance on earth. Surely a priest should not agree with that philosophy.
God is pure love and truth, He is infinite and when we try to fathom or comprhend that which is infinite it is difficult. We with our finite minds are bound by the strictures of our intellect.
If God is pure love then He must love all of His Creation. Yes God sent His only Son , the Word made flesh, who through the pascal mystery of the cross has redeemed us. I don’t think it was necessary for any animal to be redeemed unless they too were born with original sin. This is getting kind of silly.
Did Jesus come on earth to save animals or did he come to save humans? The Bible said that God created humans in His own image. And it goes on to say that God gave us dominion over everything on earth. Surely that means that we are superior to animals. This makes me wonder whether the clergy is even making an attempt to bring the Word of God to the younger generation.

Fr. Corapi is not for everyone. I just recently found out that he was run out of our diocese years back by 50 or so priests, nuns, religious. Our Bishop hired him to be the faith formation director. He didn’t work out here.I can’t see how anyone could not see the warmth and understanding in Father Corapi. He is one of the true living saints of our times.
You better listen to him because he is telling it the way it is. There is a spiritual battle raging and your soul and mine is at stake. want to know something, the devil is winning this battle!Fr. I’ve heard him a few times but not enough to make a decision myself. I remember not really liking his approach. Last night I saw some of his videos listed on his website and watched a few short videos of him describing them. So far, the ones I saw were over the top for my taste. He talks as if he is about to go into battle all the time. It’s all so adversarial, way too fundamentalists for me. Reminds me of those old time preachers talking about the devil all the time.
Granted, there is evil in the world, no doubt about it. But this
seems more like the same old “all media is bad” “all secular world is bad” etc…sorry but it sounds too much like fundamentalists paranoia to me.
The sentiment that “The world is bad and everyone is out to attack us Catholics” is playing the victim and looking for fights that are not always there. This causes many who listen to him to always have this very defensive mode about the outside world.
This doesn’t mean I am not going to listen to him though. I will still give him a try. I have promised some friends I would and i"m going to follow through on that. Maybe some of his other chats are not like that.
My friend, what has you so scared? You better listen to him because he is telling it the way it is. There is a spiritual battle raging and your soul and mine is at stake. want to know something, the devil is winning this battle!
Read some of my posts please.
Probably because St. Matthew said this:My friend, what has you so scared?God is good, pray and stick with the Church, you will be fine
Not silly, just obvious.… Yes, God did send His only Son, the Word made flesh, who through the pascal mystery of the cross redeems us. I don’t think it was necessary for any animal to be redeemed unless they too wereborn with original sin. This is getting kind of silly.
This is amazing. How is one termed judgmental by another unless one is judging?Several months ago while at confession I asked the priest what we could do to get more people to go to confession? The first thing out of his mouth was: “you sound like that guy on EWTN

We even talked about the renewal of the Latin Liturgy and he simply shouted I hate latin. So does the devil i replied. To this priests credit he did ask me to pray with him and we both knelt on the floor of the confessional and we prayed together.
