The Pope has been under attack for repealing the excommunications of the four SSPX Bishops. Liberals have claimed that the Holy Father is a poor leader, that he doesn’t think about his actions, and that he is wrong for wanting to heal a division in the Church. Politicians, the press, the public, and even some Catholics have been criticising the Holy Father.
The Pope wanted Fr. Wagner to be Bishop of Linz in Austria. This particular diocese is known for being extremely liberal and Pope Benedict wanted a faithful leader who would be able to restore and promote orthodoxy within the parishes of Linz. Unfortunately, liberals have criticised, slandered, and ridiculed Fr Wagner to such an extent that the good priest has refused this new role.
The most recent news is that Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor has refused permission for Archbishop Burke to celebrate the EF in Westminster Cathedral in June. Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor’s dislike of the EF is well-known, and so his refusal to allow a senior Vatican Prelate to celebrate this Mass comes as no suprise.
The liberals have been really busy lately. They seem to be attacking the Holy Father and the conservative/tradtionalist members of the Church. I really believe that the Pope and the Church earnestly needs our prayers at this time. The wolves are circling the Holy Father and we must pray that he has courage to fight them.
We have seen the damage caused by the liberal element within the Church. The Pope has been doing an excellent job in promoting reverent liturgy and sound orthodox theology. The liberals don’t like this and are doing all they can to stop him. The three points above are proof of this.
