There are mystics, but they are pretty rare and most are not legit. If you are having memories of before, it could be a whole number of things, but a previous life is not the cause according to any Catholic teaching or modern science.

well it is certainly not Catholic teaching. If you are having any spiritual difficulties, take them to your priest, if you are having psychological manifestations that cause you trouble, take them to a professional therapist.

I remember seeing something on TV about a young kid who was showing interest in WWII planes and had all this knowledge that was too advanced for a kid of his years - according to his parents. Then he started “making up” full names and air force ranks. He also appeared to be affraid of fire. Anyway, long and short of it, someone suggested to his parents maybe he was recalling past memories, so parents took him to some new age psyhic who said he used to be a WWII piolt who died in a firery plane crash.

Either its a kid with a very advanced imagination, a savant or a dirty, mean spirited hoax, because apparently the names he was giving matched up to acutual air men.

There’s no reincarnation. There’s no past memories. Just people with good imagination, a mental illness or out for attention.

before you were created you were a thought, God knew you before He made you, and loved you even then, but He is the creator, and creation implies beginning, and beginning implies a previous nonexistence.

aside from that, our body and soul are meant to be together, they are one and the same, and it is only by sin that the curse of death has been brought on us, but our soul and body will be reunited at the end of time, in which case there can only be one body for your one soul.

it only seems strange because we can’t comprehend nothingness, just as we can’t comprehend eternity,
for example, existence cannot be unless there were someone there who was without beginning or end, because if there was not someone in existence already who has always been, then who could start the motion of beginning? something cannot come from nothing.
by our human intelligence we cannot understand it, but by our reason we cannot deny it…as strange as it seems, we just have to accept that we can’t know everything, and then just focus on what’s really important in life and stop wasting our time wondering about things that don’t get us any closer to heaven.

I know a perfectly normal woman who has memories of past lives. I theorize that lots more information is carried in the genes and DNA than we realize.

I-well, I am hoping there is, would explain a few things to me about the state of the world…and WHY we are in it.

This will sound really crazy…and it probably is, but, FWIW…

When I was a kid, I lived in a emergency shelter waiting for foster care placement, (Stenton Home, for anyone in Philly) and while there I was sick-had scarlet fever.

While I was in the infirmary, the social worker was there visiting me (coincidence, I am sure), and I proceeded to tell her an involved tale of my being in a car crash, being rushed to the hospital, etc, etc-and I died…apparently it was SO detailed that they thought I WAS in a car accident and went to try and find out.
I was not.

YEARS later, I was reading my records-and lo and behold, the whole exchange I had with the social worker was transcribed on the ‘running record’…apparently she was pretty spooked by my tale, and she was stunned that I was never in a car accident. She had no explanation for my tale.

To this day I have an image of the sky blue convertible “I” was in. I see the car, and myself and another person who “died” in the car-the image is me looking down on the car from above.

I am terrified of driving…I am so scared I will kill SOMEONE ELSE. Not me.
(However, I do have a DL, and I did drive in KY, you pretty much have to).
And mind, I ride my bike all over the city. That doesn’t scare me. Go figure.

One of my little sisters was up in the night many times talking to a ghost or some spirit when she was about 3 years old. Apparently, it was a woman whose husband died in a war or something. And there was something about Anastasia as well. I don’t remember much about it now, but it was very detailed. I don’t know how she would have gotten this information, as we didn’t let her watch anything about a war, so where would she have gotten that from if the spirit didn’t exist (most people are convinced that ghosts are not real… except for the people who have seen ghosts)?

I also thought it was very odd that in the middle of the night my mother was in my room, but when I got up to say something to her, the she would vanish. The ghost/spirit was about her size and in the dark they looked pretty much the same. It wasn’t one of those things where an object looks like something in the dark but when you turn on the light you realize it’s just a chair or lamp or whatever. My mom and stepfather also saw this “ghost” on multiple occassions, but it wasn’t consistent enough to where you could plan to take a picture or film the ghost. I guess a lot of people tried to film a ghost but it didn’t work so there are all these fake-looking films about ghosts.

My stepdad’s father was a shaman and him and his friend came over to our house one evening to get rid of whatever spirit was in the house. When we got back, the house smelled like someone had been smoking pot, but we never saw the ghost again, my little sister stopped “talking to herself” in the middle of the night after that point, and the “creaking noises” at night were mostly gone as well.

Perhaps the little boy heard this information from a spirit or another source? Sometimes when my sister was talking about what the ghost told her, she would act as though it happened to herself. And other times it was “her husband died in a war” or something similar. My sister’s story, too, was very detailed, but we caught her “talking to herself” in the night so we knew something strange was going on.

It is not possible for you to have ever been here before in a “previous life” in the sense of reincarnation.

However, we are bombarded with stories and media of all kinds, and it is perfectly possible to hear or experience a story so vividly that it feels to you as if you had actually been there, even if it was a story about something long ago and far away.

I used to have vivid dreams about being present at Christ’s crucifixion - the cause was a picture in my little Bible. I cut the picture out and put it on my wall, and the dreams stopped.

Oh, I can believe this…mind, I’ve never heard or saw anything, but my ex and his son (from a prior marriage) have. My stepson swore up and down that the home we lived in (in KY) when the ex and I were together was haunted, and it spooked him no end, poor kid. I never saw anything. The ex did.
We tried the burning sage, the bibles all over the house (mind,I personally thought all this mess was kind of silly, but my stepson didn’t, so…hey, whatever helped him;0)-well, really to no avail.

Oh, well. We wound up breaking up, and the home went into foreclosure. (long story) Wonder if the current owners of the home see anything?
