God created two types of intelligent creatures. These are angels and humans. They’re aren’t any others.
You are certainly entitled to this private opinion. However the dogmatic way you say this seems to imply that you think that this is Christian doctrine of some kind. If so please provide a source for your claim.
I got into a lengthy discussion a few years back with another forum member, because at the time I was writing a novel (now finished) that dealt with interaction between humans and a race of intelligent aliens that had never sinned and fallen. I won’t get into the details here; link provided below. I wound up using part of the discussion in a dialogue between my human protagonist and a skeptic.

But there are thousands* of unique types of angels. Why shold there only be one type of “human”?
  • ETA: maybe millions or billions would be more accurate?

Why would there be theological or other issues with life on other planets. God is so much bigger than the limited scope of our own comprehension. Why couldn’t there be?

In one of the Marian apparitions a child asked St. Mary if there was life on other worlds.
St. Mary’s reply was “that is not for you to know”.

It would take no more effort for the Eternal God to fill space full of habited worlds than it would to make it all empty. We’ll know when the time is right.

On a practical note, if there are neighbors out there, how do you propose to interact with them? It’s 3.9 light years to the nearest star.
Now that sounds like my Mother !!! What a great response!!! 👍

I think she did not want to tell us because it might make us depressed to find out there was a race of beings that had not sinned.
Or perhaps she just wanted us to stop playing mind games and attend to the things which really mattered to us here and now. 👍

Thank you all for answering, but if I may add a precision to my original question…
What about intelligent life in another planet?
As in, would it be possible for other species other than humans to have souls as well? 😮
I can’t stand " smart " creepy, crawly thingees.

It might be interesting to note that in Jewish mysticism God created multiple worlds, with our world being the absolute lowest!
Are you talking about Atziluth, bria and yetriza? I wouldn’t call those other planets in our plane. Look at bronze and Iron age stories especially of mesopotamia where our creation mythology comes from. Do you think EDEN (in sumerian) was on this planet? One meaning yes. Another meaning no.

Since God created us, I don’t see why He couldn’t/wouldn’t create others.
Look at the original story. Let us create man in our image[let us create a worker for the mines and fields]

As Jesus said this is for the right hand to know not the church or left hand. Let not your left hand know what your right hand does.

I did. The original story says that God did NOT want man to scrounge a living by the sweat of his brow in mines and fields. Man brought this about himseelf by disobeying God’s plan for him.

Wow, that is the most extreme example of taking a Bible quote out of context that I recall seeing. Jesus is talking about giving alms to the poor.

Here’s an argument:

Everything that concerns us in this life or the next has been revealed by God.

But there is no mention of intelligent aliens, which we would interact with at least in the next life when we will know everything in God.

Therefore intelligent aliens do not exist.

Your conclusion does not follow from your first premise; it is entirely possible that intelligent aliens do in fact exist, but that they are of no concern to us here on earth.

But they would have to be of concern to us in the next life, when we can go anywhere (thanks to the gift of Subtelty) and we know everything in God. We’d be neighbours. Have to say howdy.

The cylinder scroll?

The quote was from a gnostic scripture. And remember when Jesus told his followers “What is it to you if I would have him live until I return?” Speaking of John. And John is the only Apostle alive. Remember as with anything else. Certain people were told certain things. As far as life on other planets I don’t see what this has to do with the church. The church’s official stance was that the world is flat anyway.

You can say it’s not there or it doesn’t exist or wrong by the church’s words. Just be careful though. Sounds fishy to me.

Your first premise is wrong.

The Church has always taught that men have not only the right but the God-given duty to enquire and discover everything that they can about the world, through science, philosophy, etc. We are certainly not required to confine our knowledge to only that which has been the subject of Divine Revelation. That sounds like something that a Moslem or a fundamentalist would say.

No offense but that’s a fairly weak argument.

Existence and everything in it is so expansive that there is no way that every single detail of everything has been revealed to us by God. Certainly the most important have been revealed. Maybe there is life on other planets but God did not consider it important for us to know. Maybe there is life on other planets and God figured it to be in our best interest not to know about them. Maybe LIfe on other planets have just begun 1,000 years ago and we have had no prophet (ie-intermediary) to tell us about them. You cannot conclude with any level of certainty whatsoever that these things are not possible.

I disagree. In the next life, our concern is the Happiness of being in God’s presence, not the fact that there are (or are not) sentient non-earth denizens of Heaven.

Gnostic scribblings (they are NOT “Scripture”!!) are not just “fishy” they are total BS the earliest of them invented in the mid 2nd century and most much later. Any resemblance to the real histiorical life and teachings of Christ is unoriginal, copied from the Gospels or elsewhere. The whole purpose of writing them was to invent lies to justify the perverted doctrines of a pagan-inspired heresy.

I don’t think so. Despite all the possibilities I just don’t think so. The odds of the right size, mass, makeup, distance, moon, etc. It just seems unlikely that the conditions would work regardless of the all the possibilities. Statistics is an interesting science. I think the probabilites, since we were a twinkle in Jesus’ eyes were… one and done. We are one in a kabababillion… whatever the number. I think we’re that special. It might seem like selfishness at a human level, but I don’t think so. I just think it’s the way it is. I could be wrong.

I think there’s so much that we are completely ignorant of that dismissing this idea in no way diminishes all kinds of other possibilities for space and time variabilities. MAybe there’s a kabababillion universes and times? Maybe each one of us has one and there’s all kinds of unexplained incomprehensible overlaps and interactions. That seems more likely to me. And, the Eternal Present contains all of it, all at once. One big happy now.

Interesting possibilities. Many episodes of Twilight Zone and numerous science fiction writers have done a lot with these kinds of ideas than I can touch on, here and now.

Regardless, I think in the here and now as we understand it, we are it. And I think it’s a good thing to be true, and good for our sense of responsibility and ownership for the sacrifice of the Lamb of God.

I think there’s more than a possibility of alien life on other worlds. The real questions are whether we’ll see contact/discovery in our life times and whether its intelligent?

God is the Master of all, creator of everything, of course He’s capable of crafting life on other words, maybe somewhere there’s some little fish crawling up out of the sludge, about to start the process of evolution where two million years from now some alien archeologists find the remains of ours?

If they’re intelligent, they’ll know God, they’ll have immortal souls. We’ll see them in Heaven, even if we don’t see them in this life.

And if its just us? Well, us here and now will never know, the universe is just too vaste.
