I don’t really know what is in this other than alcohol of some sort but if you haven’t or won’t get the flu vaccine it may be your last resort. Some may even say that it’s their first choice!

Yes, my Dad would mix up whiskey, lemon and honey for a cold/cough taken as a hot toddy. As kids we’d get a tsp. or two for a bad cough. Thanks for responding @Tis_Bearself.

Yes, but which brand of Irish whiskey is it?

Or, perhaps, … dear Lord … tell me it’s not … Canadian?

Maybe Jameson? It sounds familiar but I was just a kid then. I’ll bet if I asked my older brother he’d know. He used to get into trouble as a teen for messing around in our Dad’s liquor cabinet.

I am so finished with store bought sliced bread. Nothing compares to home made taste and texture.
My late uncle (my father’s oldest brother) made homemade bread. He’d always give us a loaf or two to take home and sometimes it was nice and warm that you’d smell it all the 200+ miles all the way home…

I’m 64 and I’ve been baking bread for the family weekly since I was married (nearly 40 years ago). Donkey you’d be happy, I ALWAYS use King Arthur flour. No bread machine though, just old fashioned kneading. There is just nothing like the smell, texture, and taste of ‘real homemade’.

The Deep South has been in a deep freeze recently. Time to break out the thermals! Mine aren’t the “trap door” style. Lands End makes very nice and very warm silk thermals that are less bulky. I grew up in NYS wearing those waffle patterned thermals for sledding and skating. Silk ones are more comfortable. Hope y’all aren’t like the dog and think that this TMI!

Noticed we had to actually turn on the heater earlier this week.
When I was in parochial high school in the sixties, 'way up North, we had to wear a tie and jacket to school. The challenge each year was to see if one could make it to November without an overcoat.

I take that challenge to this day and usually make it!

For years I had a red nightshirt that reached almost to my ankles. It was SO comfortable to wear around the house in the winter, and very comfortable in bed.

That’s cozy! I have a long red nightgown and matching red robe that I usually reserve to wear on Christmas day. It’s my Nana holiday attire along with a Santa hat. Since this year I won’t be visiting kids/grandkids, I’ve been wearing the robe around the house as a connection to them. It’s comforting remembering them snuggled up to me while wearing it.

@Nepperhan I graduated from a N.Y. upstate Catholic HS in the mid 60’s. We had uniforms to wear. The girls wore a white shirt plus a blazer and a plaid pleated skirt. That outfit got cold in the winter while waiting on the bus to arrive! Even when bundled up with winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves it wasn’t enough. Especially when the snow came early.

(You could wear a sleeveless sweater under the blazer without anyone noticing!)

I agree that flannel nightgowns and long shirts are very comfortable to wear when lounging around the house…but, not sleeping in! I guess I roll back and forth in my sleep and they get all tangled and twisted! I wind up wrapped like a mummy. 😱. I just sleep in my undies and a T-shirt…much more comfortable!

Ah Patty, remember when Annie Hall came out and that was Diane Keaton’s ‘look’?

I sure do! I never liked that movie and I’m not a big Woody Allen fan anyway but I did see it. Annie look alike s everywhere. Same happened to Linda Rhondstat (sp). Her look was all the teenage rage!
