I’ve heard that there are actually times that surgeons Google how to do a surgery, if they’ve never done it before.
 
I always thought Dennis was either Catholic or a British Isles High Church derivative.

My Spanish teacher in high school told us the story of misprinted t-shirts when John Paul II visited Mexico in order to teach us the difference between papa vs. papá and El Papa vs. la papa.

My Spanish teacher in high school told me the story of how when he was in Mexico as a seminarian, he was given the job of finding out who was married only civilly so they could get their convalidations. However, instead of asking them if they were “casado” (married) in the Church, he instead asked them if they were “cansado” (bored, sleepy). Naturally, everyome said “No”, so he ended up signing up a lot of people who didn’t need convalidation!

Another funny story: our former associate pastor was telling the story of a homily he gave in Spanish while he was a deacon. He wanted to talk about relationships with different people , like the barber, butcher, etc. When he was translating, he didn’t realize that in Spanish, if you just tried to make the word for “relationship” plural, you assigned it the meaning of, how shall I say, the “marital embrace that leads to children”. So a lot of people were looking at him funny while he was preaching this from the pulpit.
