Do most priests feel called to the priesthood because they are not satisfied with any job in the secular world? Do some join the seminary for what may seem like to some a sort of laziness or aversion to work, as society defines work?

:okpeople:

If you would like to learn about the priesthood Catholic Answers Live radio will have a question and answer show today at 4:00PM Pacific entitled, “How to Be a Priest”. If you do not have Catholic radio in your area you can still listen live right here on the net. There is a live button on the CA homepage right above the schedule.

This is not how it worked for me. I loved my job, I work in the Information Security field and loved it. I also worked as a volunteer firefighter and emt, again, I loved it.

I just felt called to something more.

People who perceive that those in the semianry because of some sort of laziness or aversion to work has no idea what the requirements of Graduate school are. There is much work in the seminary. Any one who goes there thinking that they will get a break from work will get a rude awakening and will not last.

I guess I should have qualified the work as “monotonous, secular” work.
