I am realizing that as I approach 40 and am still single, my chances of having children are quickly being wiped out. This pains me, more than words can say. The idea of not having children is devastating to me. I grew up with very Catholic values regarding marriage and children. Although raising a family is very hard work, I have long felt a deep, deep calling to that vocation. I still hope to marry one day, but as a woman there is a time limit on having children. Although my parents have never put any pressure on me in this area, it causes me considerable pain to know that I, their only source of grandchildren, may well not be able to come through for them.
Please, please pray for me. The emotions I am feeling are very real and intense. Mother’s Day this year was particularly painful for me. I am hoping that anyone who has struggled with infertility will understand what I am going through. John Paul II was right on the mark when he coined the phrase, “culture of death”. I am truly feeling the culture of death, and the pain that it brings, pressing in on me these days. I beg you, please pray for me. I truly thank you.
