*When my son played on the football team at school, it was very competitve. Sports, jobs, etc…we live in a competitive world. But, suppose there was no competition? Suppose we set our own standards, and raised our own bars? When I go to work, I don’t look at my coworkers and say to myself…‘I want to do better than this or that one today.’ No, I look to what God would have me do for the day, which is to stay focused on serving Him and others. If we are in servitude of others, I happen to think that the results will naturally come to fruition. I see far too much back stabbing, and people stealing another’s work pretending that it’s theirs…in hopes of promotions, etc.
On some levels, competition is good. I mean, when you are looking for an insurance quote for your car, you don’t go for the first quote you receive, you compare to other companies, and what they might be charging for the same coverage. So…in that sense it’s good. But, on so many other levels, competition just seems to stress everyone out.
What do you think? Are you competitive? Do you think the world would be a better place without competition? Curious as to your thoughts.
