I completely agree, and offer a statement from Canon Law on the Church’s thoughts on the body:Scout,
Speaking of Our Mother’s body…where is it now? Did she die? Was her body a box? Why did God bring it into heaven? How about Elijah? How about Jesus’ body?
Our bodies aren’t cheap pieces of cardboard. They are sanctified dwelling places of the Holy Spirit and should not be regarded as another man’s property, while living or dead. Sorry, just can’t agree with you. Our bodys belong to God and it’s His desire we return to dirt. It’s not for us to decide or play god with.

Church funerals are to be celebrated according to the norms of the liturgical books. In these funeral rites the Church prays for the spiritual support of the dead, it honours their bodies, and at the same time it brings to the living the comfort of hope.
Our souls abide in a temple that God has specifically given to us while we inhabit this earth. We are not to desicrate it while our souls occupy it, nor are we to desicrate it when the soul has left it.
