Following something I was watching last night I spotted the Light of the East series on EWTN. It was I think in the 12 midnight slot Pacific time and seemed to be the first show in the series. It’s not listed in the August Specials not September Specials.

They tend to rerun segments from this series at seasons that are big in the Latin Church like Advent and Lent so I expect they will run the parts related to Advent sometime in December.

I think this series is an excellent introduction to the ECC, especially Byzantine which these two priests are. If anyone finds information about future broadcast dates and times please post.

I was lucky to buy a used copy of the series through a vendor on Amazon which I’m still trying to get transferred to DVD for easier use in some catechetical sessions.

Rev. Fr. Thomas, the host/presenter of LotE, was in Anchorage this last week… VERY dynamic in person.

Fr. Loya is the host of the radio program by the same name, different from the EWTN TV series with Fr. Michael Sopoliga and Fr. Joseph Bertha. I listen to Fr. Loya’s show on my way to DL every Sunday. He’s wonderful. That’s great he was up there in your area!

I’m thrilled he’s coming here in Oct. to help lead a one day men’s retreat. I’m hoping we can get him to do something else as well while he’s here with a larger group, not just men. He, along with HRM Father Abbot Nicholas, was at the installation of our bishop, they were students in Rome together, and I told him he did more to promote ECCs just by walking around in his EC garb than anything I’ve been able to generate. There was so much buzz, people asking “Who was that?” 🙂 He’s a wonderful TOB teacher. I especially love a 4 or 5 DVD set from a retreat he did on TOB in FL with EC clergy.
