just wondering…do you guys show the Veggie Tales videos to your kids?😃

What are your impressions of the show?:hmmm:

Any info on the creators of the show?😉

Favorite episode?👍

Do you even know what I’m talking about?

Thanks and God bless

I love the Silly Songs with Larry. :rotfl:
They are all great, The Hairbrush Song, The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything, Song of The Cucummber and the very best…
I LOVE MY LIPS.
WAY too funny. 👍

Overall, I like them. They are not Catholic, but the messages are truely non-denominational. All I know about the creators is that they are devout and creative. I do love the silly songs, and the different cds are great for the car

I think I may like them more than my daughter does. My favorite song is the Dance of the Cucumber. The part where Larry is translating the Cucumber’s spanish is a riot.

I would have to say my kids, 6 yo boy and 2 yo girl have several videos & dvds. They love them. My favorite would have to be Jonah. We have the plush toy of him and Kaleel (sp?). My son, who has Down’s Syndrome can sing all of their songs. He is wonderful.

My favorite silly song is “Barbara Manatee”, but then I love the tango.

I think my favorite movie is “God wants me to forgive them?”
There’s a great song by the Grapes of Wrath, who never take a bath.

And how about the episode with the Starship Applepies?

Larry Boy and the Big Fib (I think that’s the title) is good, but I thought the other Larry Boy episodes were darker.

The first time someone told me about Veggie Tales, I thought she was nuts, but I really like them. They have catchy music, funny lyrics, and jokes/puns for adults, with enought slapstick for the kids.

We love all Veggie Tales.
Funny story: We have a new Wal-Mart (the kind with both food and general merchandise. It replaced the older kind (only general merchandise). The old building has been demolished but the rubble is still sitting in front of the new store, looking exactly like Madam Blueberry’s house at the end of Madam Blueberry. Plus walking into the new store looks exactly like “Stuff Mart” in that video.
We had already called Wal-Mart and K-Mart Stuff Mart but this is enough to make it really, really eerie.

On another note, I like most of the silly songs, but my favorite right now is “Larry’s High Silk Hat”
Favorite Veggie Tales CD is the Christmas one, especially the 12 Polish Christmas Dishes one. All the foods from my childhood.

Thanks for bringing this up. Shoot! I watched Princess Bride yesterday because of these fora, now I have to haul out the Veggie Tales.
God bless you and yours,

Funny thing–we only “discovered” Veggie Tales about 6 months ago. 😃

I’d heard of them, but we really really don’t watch much tv around here, so a new video series took quite a few years to make it into our house!! So…my other neices and nephews have since OUTGROWN (is it possible!!!) their Veggie Tales collections. About a month ago, one family member gave us about 10 videos!!

My girls love them. Esther is their favorite, although Jonah is my favorite. Larry Boy and the Rumor Weed is another hit.

My girls are watching Joseph, King of Dreams as we “speak”. Not Veggie Tales, but good one, too!

We have 5 children, ages 12 to 18 months. They all like watching them, and really do learn about the stories that are being discussed. The videos may not be Catholic, but scripture is scripture, regardless of denomination. I even found myself answering a bible study question about Jonah and why he was thrown overboard, because of Veggietales. 😃 I highly recommend them.

I’ve never seen a Veggie Tale and never heard of them until when after one of the songs that got played one morning the DJ announced that it was from the Veggie Tales.

It was a song about Jonah being in the belly of the whale and how delicious he was. I was cracking up so hard I had to pull over!!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Anybody here know of whether the lyrics to that song are online anywhere? (I hope… I hope…)

We LOVE Veggie Tales! Even my husband cracks up at them. I think my favorite is Madame Blueberry. It is our inside joke now, “Who wants to go to Stuff Mart??”

It’s sung by the Newsboys, great contemporary Christian music. I think one of the members is Catholic.

There is also a Jonah Sing-A-Long video that has all the words to the songs in that movie. Way cool.

I take care of my granddaughter weekdays, and she is just now getting old enough to really watch videos, so consequently we have just begun with Veggie Tales. I guess I haven’t seen enough to form a real opinion yet. So far seems fine.

For those of you with little ones, we highly recommend the
“Holy Baby” dvd. This teaches all 7 prayers of the Rosary in 7 languages (or just one if you wish), and my granddaughter loves it! She never fails to ask to see it when she first arrives. If interested, check here: therosaryproject.com/main/index.html. I don’t get a “cut” here, just think a lot of this program!

Another thing is that the Veggies will slip in humor that only grownup folks would get. When I saw the “Star of Christmas” I remember a line something like “And the evil witch has been turned into a newt” and I almost lost it! (They never said whether she “got better”…) Great stuff indeed!

My mom (who is an atheist) bought a video, the story about joshua, for my nephew joshua. She bought it because of his name. When I told her that it was a christian video, she bet me that my nephew wouldn’t watch it. I won, he watched it hundreds of times until the tape wore out and my mom had to buy him a new one. He even took veggietales over bob the builder, which was definetly a first!!! I love them, my friends told me about them. When i have kids, I’ll definetly let my kids watch them!!

I have watched many many VeggieTales and it is clear that the creators are/were big fans of Monty Python.

In Josh and the Big wall, you have the french peas on the castle wall…it’s just like John Cleese in The Holy Grail.

Or in one of the songs, Bob holds up a picture of Sonny Bono.

All these references make it a lot more interesting for the parents.

We love Veggie Tale’s here! 🙂
This is their website and it has info about the creators and their mission, fyi.

“Woke up this morning kinda blue,
Thinking through that age-old question:
How to exit a whale’s digestion?
It might behoove me to be heaved.
Head out like a human comet.
Hmmm… I wonder what rhymes with comet.”
from Belly of the Whale–Jonah, A Veggie Tale’s Movie

They may not be Catholic but I’ve seen them in more than one Catholic gift shop.

.

Love the hairbrush song

My family loves them. On the “bonus materials” that came with the Jonah movie there is a segment about how they did the music for the movie. It is the best short explanation I have ever seen about the compositional process for a film score.
