My children adore the songs. We don’t have any vidioes… sort of goes with the very limited TV viewing, but the music is so fun.

The first Veggie Tale we saw was Madame Blueberry. We were not very impressed. We needed to be more patient until the lesson at the end! They certainly grow on you!!!

The best thing about them for our family is that they are on the lighter side. They aren’t so scary, or have a lot of scary parts, for the younger children (at least the ones we have), like a lot of the “other” childrens movies out there. (Like Disney - :banghead: - yuk!)

We like VeggieTales here. Favorite–my kids’ current favorite is Larry Boy & the Rumor Weed (though I remain partial to Madame Blueberry).

Who DOESN’T like VeggieTales? I think they’re popular even among non-Christians. I thought that fish-slapping from the Jonah movie was especially funny.

We really like the VeggieTales videos. While their mesage is not Catholic, it teacher bible stories that are recognized by all the Christian denominations. I personally enjoyed Esther the most, but the boys just love Jonah. We all like to listen to the silly songs cds (i think we have 4 or 5 of them already)…

All in all, I’d much rather have them watch something non-Catholic, but Bible-based, than a lot of Disney’s junk these days…

Awesome!

We’re the pirates who don’t do anything
We just stay home, and lie around
And if you ask us to do anything
We’ll just tell you… we don’t do anything!

Truly, a work of pure, unadulterated genius.

We love Veggie tales! 👍 I find myself singing the scallions’ song from their version of Daniel in the lion’s den all the time. “We could use him as a footstool or a table to play scrabble on and tie him up and beat him up and throw him out of Babylon!”

Uh oh. It has begun… 😛

Tom of Assisi:
just wondering…do you guys show the Veggie Tales videos to your kids?😃

What are your impressions of the show?:hmmm:

Any info on the creators of the show?😉

Favorite episode?👍

Do you even know what I’m talking about?

Thanks and God bless
We absolutely LOVE the VeggieTales series. My personal favorite is Esther, the Girl Who Became Queen. Oh my gosh, the songs are great!

Other greats include: “Where’s God When I’m Scared?” and “Are You My Neightbor?” Don’t forget “Dave and the Giant Pickle” and all the Larry Boy episodes.

They are great entertainment option for children. My kids are 10 and 8 and we still watch them.

My children and I love veggie tales, my kids watch them at their christian school, my parents even like them and all my neices and nephews like them also.
They teach good values and they are a great way for parent and child to watch together and have open discussion afterwards.
My sisters kids really like bibleman? I think thats what its called, my kids have never seen that but I guess its like superman of the bible, its great that there are more and more christian based shows for us to choose from, Praise The Lord!!

We also like Anne of Green Gables series and Sarah Plain and Tall series, my almost 11 year old loves those movies and loves to read the books and of course our whole family loves Little House On The Prairie, what a timeless classic!!

The Veggies are wonderful. Some of the songs are so sweet and touching they move me to tears (I’m a sap, though). Sometimes I pray for the conversion of Phil Vischer…is that wrong? :o

On a related topic, I just got some videos from EWTN, the Saturday morning cartoon versions of Bernadette (I cried during this one) and the story of Juan Diego (ditto). I love being able to show my daughter religious stories and know she’s getting the Catholic perspective.

peace all,
n

😃 Love, love, love the Veggie Tales! My personal favorite is Lyle the Kindly Viking, who crochets potholders for the poor monks that the vikings keep raiding (could be a battle between my Irish and Icelandic heritage?). The kids love all of them, especially Larry Boy videos. They also like 3-2-1 Penguins. Penguins is also by Veggie Tales creators. They are hysterical.

I think my husband and I like them more than the kids. My husband sings the ‘Cheeseburger’ song at work—if you can imagine a great, burly, mechanic singing Veggie Tales songs!

We are also partial to the CCC videos. The kids liked the story of Juan Diego and Nicholas…the true story about St.Nicholas----beware if you are perpetuating the Santa Claus thing, this video will let them in on the secret. Although, my kids don’t see anything incongruous with St.Nicholas’ death and the fact that Santa is still alive, go figure! Jen in Ok

After reading all these posts, I may even consider buying a Veggie Tale tape.
I am single, no kids, but believe that the child in all of us, (Since we are a Child of God), needs to be brought out from within us.

I am partial to some Bible-based program that I due listen to on Saturdays on the Moody station here in Cleveland. Should we start a thread about Adventures in Odessy?

Another program that is on the radio here is 'Jungle Jam and Friends" Has anyone heard of these radio shows? They are 15 minutes long and SO funny that grown-ups like me get the puns, satire, and irony that kids may not get.
Your thoughts?

Go with God!

Ha ha and my nearly 3 year old just went dancing through the room singing “the thankfulness song”

-D

My kids love the Veggie Tales videos. I only came across one problem–trying to convince my young son that the story about Rack, Shack and Benny was taken from the Bible. He was convinced that the Bible had copied the story from Veggie Tales!!!

This is my FAVORITE veggie tales song! I find myself singing it to myself, and my husband just laughs at me.

We LOVE the Veggie Tales. We have been watching them forever. I first found them when I was teaching CCD. I used them in class all of the time!

When our fourth child, Daniel, was born, he needed to be in the NeoNatal Intensive Care. After he was there for about 2 weeks, my husband and I decided to take the kids to see him again. (They hadn’t seen him since I was released from the hospital–while my husband and I had gone daily.) Daniel was losing weight, and the doctors did not know why he was not gaining. So, we took our three boys to visit their brother. Before we left, our oldest son, Peter asked if he could sing a song to Daniel. Of course, we said! He is 6 and has the sweetest singing voice. He started," Don’t cry, Daniel. Fear not, Daniel. Don’t you know you’re not alone. There is One who is watching you. He listens when you pray. . .And when you think that you won’t get through, God will find a way!" (From “Daniel and the Lion’s Den”) Well, there wasn’t a dry eye in that room! Right then, our second son, John Michael, age 4, said that he wanted to sing a song to Daniel, too. He started in a very loud voice, “GOD IS BIGGER THAN THE BOOGEY MAN. . .” :yup: We all cracked up! A few days later, Daniel began to gain weight, and he hasn’t stopped. At 10 months, he’s doing well!

Proud Mom of Peter, John Michael, Philip and Daniel

Man, Veggie Tales is awesome! I like the “Song of the Cebu” but my all time favorite is THE GRAPES OF WRATH!! “We are the grapes of wrath/ we never take a bath/ it is our style to never smile…”
Awww man that is hilarious, while we were reading the actual book in my English class, my teacher didn’t believe me when I said I could bring in the animated video version.
Has anyone seen Larry Boy and the Angry Eyebrows?! The dancing scene is the funniest thing ever! “Daunce with me, Lampy!”

I LOVE Larryboy!!! Do you know why? Because I…AM…THAT…HERO!!!
