Every year, a Greek Orthodox Church near me holds a Greek Food Festival, which also includes a tour of their beautiful church. I was wondering about what was your opinion on lighting candles in front of icons of Jesus, as well as the Theotokos (the Virgin Mary in the Roman Catholic faith) in the Orthodox Church?

When I was young, one of my earliest memories of the Catholic church was my mom lighting a candle in front of a statue of Mary. It’s the same thing, its symbolizes a prayer.

Nothing wrong with it. Many Catholics come into our Church to light candles.
