Lineage from Adam and Eve

Am I correct in saying that the church teaches that all of mankind descended from Adam and Eve? Well, when you start reading the book of Genesis, it gives lists of all the descendants of Adam and Eve, and their descendants, etc. Eventually, the Bible mentions other groups of people like the Egyptians. Where did they come from?

The bible does not provide a complete list of the descendants of the first parents. It is commonly believed that it does not even provide a complete list of their immediate children, who, because of the lengthy lives of our first parents, could have numbered in the hundreds.

Not quite - the Church teaches that God infused two original humans with souls and that we are all descended from them. The Church does not teach that the Genesis stories of Adam and Eve, creation, the flood, etc. must be believed as literal history.

correct - and then, of course, everyone has a problem with all the world descending from Adam and Eve, but seem to forget Noah…
