I thought this was interesting. It is from Sacred Heart Seminary (specializes in 2nd Career vocations). It has several testimonies from people who are currently students at Sacred Heart. You will note that they are older and a couple are former college Presidents and professors (with PhD’s) who went back to seminary to pursue the call to Priesthood.

For those who are older this is a little inspiration as well as for those who think they already have a lot of education and don’t want to spend 4 years in grad school as a student again.

God Bless these men as they prepare for service.

This will be me if I end up becoming a priest.

At the same time, it’s important to have priests who are in their 20’s and 30’s. We need priests who will relate to younger generations. People over 30 can relate to younger generations, but a generation barrier tends to form around that age. I’m not 30 yet, and I have a hard time relating to people younger than around 21-22.

I am not sure I would set the age 30 but I do agree with you that the church needs younger Priests (dynamic, orthodox, manly, and faithful).

PS I suppose young is relative but Obama is 46 and is considered young.

I recently read this book, The Collar. It traces the lives of four seminarians at Sacred Heart for a one year period. Two of the men in the book are on that testimonial page.
