I’m kind of joking…I have a horrible job history and don’t like being on LinkedIn, but recently I decided to get back on and, what do I see, but women showing off their bits and pieces on a supposedly professional site! I’m not just talking about “models” who advertise on there, but sales people, etc. There is a fine line between being attractive and being, um, ‘slutty’. And then there is a handy comment section where guys are lusting after the girl.

This is why Social Media in general stinks…it just devolves into base instincts.

In todays world, the line between professional and slutty are blurry at best LOL, I was reminded of this when our local news station acquired a new female anchor, they made a point to show off her body on the intro commercial segments. of course, she was wearing a very short, very tight skirt, and tight fitting shirt as well, and Im not going to lie, she was very attractive and had a great body, but in this commercial, it was clear they were trying to appeal to male viewers.

Its no different in other fields either IMO, females that have great bodies and looks, tend to get ahead faster and in general do better at their jobs, probably because no one will ever say anything negative about them, but still… LOL

Even on the news stations (Fox News comes to mind) I can understand the desire to get viewers. I mean, besides that it is mostly conservative, I love to watch pretty girls read the news, lol. I still don’t know what is going on in the world (thanks, Patti Anne Brown), but the ride is fun.

I always thought LinkedIn was strictly professional, which is why I felt intimidated going on there and putting up my paltry job experience. But apparently I don’t have to worry about that. I just have to worry about my looks.

On the larger point, I agree…pretty women can pretty much skate by with things…I know at my gym the women who work out the least but get the most attention are the good looking girls. Or I see old men at supermarkets helping out hot moms and not anyone their age. Kind of sad, but I guess men are to blame too…we’re wired that way.

I’m confused, are we just talking about pretty women now or are we talking about inappropriate dress? If it’s pretty women, hey, they exist, you gotta get over that. If it’s inappropriate dress then I’m confident that linkedin does not allow nudity of any kind and you can report it. But other than that, what kind of dress is improper or not is a somewhat subjective matter. If that’s what we’re talking about, what kind of dress are you seeing?

LinkedIn is social network for professionals. If you say anything up to nudity is OK, then I can say any sort of behavior short of murder is OK. A woman in a bikini or showing her breasts off (deep cleavage) on a site for professionals doesn’t seem…well, professional.

LinkedIn is, ostensibly, about merit, not about looks. That was my point. The first responder talked about pretty women on the News. I mentioned how that seems OK, because they want to get viewers. But advertising your body to get a job on LinkedIn isn’t…mature.

Nudity is also banned on Facebook…still a lot of smut on there.
