Hello,

A recent thread mentioned the unfortunate link between the Susan G. Komen breat cancer organization and Planned Parenthood. SGK gives hundreds of thousands of dollars to Planned Parenthood every year. Even if that money was solely used to pay for breast cancer screening, it would still lend legitimacy to an abortion provider. For many of us, that is a deal-breaker.

This highlighted the difficulty we face in giving money or time to charitable organizations without inadvertantly supporting the Culture of Death. For instance, I would like to give money for Alzheimer’s research, since that disease has struck several members of my family. But how can I ensure that my money doesn’t wind up supporting fetal stem cell research? Similarly, I might want to give money to an organization fighting poverty in Africa, but I wouldn’t want it used to pay for abortions.

Is anyone aware of a list that indicates which major charities do or don’t support the Culture of Death? If not, maybe we could start one!

I am interested in such a list as well, at this point I only give to Catholic organizations and pro-life groups. I do know that the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute is a good alternative to Komen foundation.

I’m bumping this thread up, hoping that someone out there has some ideas.

Check out this website life.org.nz/fromtheceo.htm

Yesterday was my last day as the Trust ran out of money and can’t afford to employ me anymore (I am researcher/writer/website developer). I may have to learn how to fundraise.

It’s a pity because now, while urgently looking for a new job, I am finishing off the Euthanasia section in my spare time. (I was supposed to work on the Bioethics section over the next 6 months.)

My motivation has been “Know the Truth and the truth shall set you free.” We tell it like it is and leave room for the Holy Spirit to do His part.

Conversely, it would be handy to have a list of the charities that do support the culture of death. A few weeks ago I gave a few bucks to a breast cancer organization when I was at the grocery store.

They’ve had the display up all month, all the registers are decorated with pink, and the clerks always ask you at the end of every transaction if you’d like to donate. I didn’t specifically see the name Susan G. Komen on there, but isn’t that the main breast cancer charity?

I am glad this thread has been started. It would really be helpful to have a list of charities that do not support the culture of death and are on board with the culture of life. So many charities sound good, and may touch us personally given what illnesses and other issues we, our family members and friends deal with on a regular basis. However, I am sure I’m not the only one who found out after donating that the charity promotes something like embryonic stem cell research. I even heard of one international natural disaster relief fund that was handing out artificial contraception and providing abortions! I like to think that by sticking with things like Catholic Charities and Catholic Relief Services, the money will not be put toward the culture of death, but sometimes I’m not completely convinced!
