I like the blue letter bible site, you can look up a verse, and then click on the “V” tab to show the different bible translations of that verse, or click on the “C” tab to see the Greek or Hebrew Lexicon / Concordance .
 
There’s also the New American Bible at the US Catholic Bishops website.

Warning: The search engine at this site will have you tearing your hair out. I usually go to a Protestant site when searching, then come back to the Bishop’s site to read the NAB version.
 
I recommend e-Sword. They have many Bible translations available for free, including the Douay-Rheims and the Latin Vulgate. They also have dictionaries, commentaries and Bibles for a modest fee. It is a great website, especially since you can compare multilple translations. Their website is e-sword.net/downloads.html.

Hello LilyM,

No challenge, just curious why this is your favorite? I am searching for a one that I can say that about, and really I can’t.

I can tell you ones I dont like, but I am not as clear about one to key in on is all.

Any insight would be appreciated!🙂

I wish the Confraternity as a whole would make a resurgence. I know it had it’s problems, but I MUCH prefer that translation to the NAB–especially the footnotes!
 
I just mentioned the New Testament of the Confraternity Bible because the Old Testament except for the Psalms and Genesis and a few other books that remained in the Challoner Douay Rheims Version it is the same as the 1970 version of the NAB.

I’ve always wondered since All the Old Testament Books of the Confraternity Bible Were all completed in 1969 but not published until the NAB came out with Genesis changed in 1970 if there isn’t at least ONE COMPLETE Confraternity Bible stored away in some vault by the translators of the NAB who wanted to make sure it never saw the light of day in publication because it would detract from their work?

Actually the Confraternity Psalms are the same as the 1970 NAB. The NAB Genesis was re-translated. All of the sapiential books, the first 8 books, other than Genesis and the Prophetic books of the Confraternity was incorporated into the NAB. The prophetic books had some slight revision. The rest are Douay.
