List of Parishes That Have Kneeling for Communion

Please post the names and locations of churches and chapels that have kneeling for Holy Communion, along with any specifics that are relevant.

This thread is not the place to discuss the pros and cons of this practice. There are other threads for that purpose. The only posts that should be placed on this thread are names of relevant sites.

Since some posters’ information will invariably be out of date, please post a correction if you are certain of a change.

I’ll start the list:

Diocese of London, Ontario
St. Michael, Windsor: TLM only

Archdiocese of Chicago
St. John Cantius, Chicago: TLM (and others?)

Archdiocese of Detroit
Old St. Mary’s, Detroit: All Masses
St. Joseph, Detroit: All Masses
Holy Family, Detroit: All Masses
St. Josaphat, Detroit: TLM only
Sweetest Heart of Mary, Detroit: Only on solemnities
Assumption Grotto, Detroit: All Masses

Archdiocese of Los Angeles
Ss. Peter & Paul, Wilmington: All Masses
St. Victor, West Hollywood: All Masses
St. Casimir, Los Feliz: All Masses

Archdiocese of New York
St. Agnes, Manhattan: TLM (and others?)

Diocese of Oakland, California
St. Margaret Mary, Oakland: TLM (and others?)

Diocese of Orange, California
St. Mary by the Sea, Huntington Beach: Daily Mass and Sunday Latin Mass (may change)
St. Michael Abbey, Silverado: All Masses (no altar rail)
Mission San Juan Capistrano, Serra Chapel: TLM only

Archdiocese of Westminster (London), England
Brompton Oratory, Knightsbridge: All Masses
Corpus Christi, Covent Garden: TLM only
 
Here are a few.

St. Agnes in St. Paul MN uses the altar rail at all masses.
SS Cyrill & Methodius in suburban Detroit kneels for communion but uses no rail
Old St Marys in Cincinati uses the altar rail for the NO Latin mass, maybe their other masses
Emmanuel in Dayton uses the rail
St. Patrick in Columbus OH uses the rail
Holy Family in Columbus OH uses the rail for its Sunday TLMs and weekday NO masses
St. Joseph in Toldeo OH uses the rail and celebrates madd Ad Orientem
Our lady of Peace in Santa Clara CA uses the rail
Holy Rosary in Portland OR uses the altar rail
Holy Rosary in Houston TX uses the rail
Annuncation in Houston TX uses the rail
 
Another addition

In the Chicago archdiocese, St Mary of the Angels, ran by Opus Dei, at least as of last year, mostly used the altar rail for communion
 
Our Lady of the Atonement, Archdiocese of San Antonio, all kneel at the altar rail to receive communion at all masses.
 
Archdiocese of New York:
St. John the Baptist in Poughkeepsie at the TLM. Really nice small church if you ever get a chance. There’s so little room to stand in the front that they MAY kneel at the other mass.

Correction: Kneeling at All daily Masses at Sweetest Heart of Mary
 
St. Mary of the Angels (Chicago, IL) allows kneeling (at the communion rail) to receive at all Masses in main church. No rail at daily mass chapel
 
Basicilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus,

(Sacred Heart and St Stephen are a joint parish.)

St. Stephen’s celebrates the Indult, so it’s a duh.

As a note here. STS C&M does not have a communion rail, but they generally place a series of *prie dieu * at each asile for the faithful to kneel at.

Thats what I meant, they use the kneelers(prie dieu) instead of using a rail. Hopefully their new parish building will have a rail.

Archdiocese of Chicago
St. John Cantius uses the Communion rail for reception of Holy Communion kneeling at all Masses, whether it’s the Tridentine Mass, Latin Novus Ordo or English Novus Ordo. It’s used for daily Mass as well as Sundays and Holy Days.

St. Mary of the Angels uses the Communion rail for all Masses in the main Church. The St. Josemaria Escriva chapel doesn’t have a Communion rail but Holy Communion isn’t refused to those who kneel.
St. Thomas More uses the Communion rail for the Tridentine Mass. I’m not sure if it’s used for the Novus Ordo.

St. Peter’s in Volo uses the Communion rail only for the Tridentine Mass.

St. John Vianney in Northlake, my parish, uses the Communion rail for all Masses. We only have the Tridentine Mass on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 10:00, but anyone can receive kneeling at the Communion rail for any of the Masses.

I teach CCD at St. John Vianney and the DRE insists the children receive Holy Communion at the rail. It’s wonderful to see all the children kneeling for Holy Communion. However, most of the parents don’t come to Mass at all, so kneeling for Holy Communion is lost on most of the kids.

Diocese of Rockford
St. Mary’s Oratory is run by the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest and only offers the Tridentine Mass.
St. Patrick’s uses the Communion rail for the Tridentine Mass. I’m don’t know if they use it for the Novus Ordo.
 
Your parish sounds like a good canidate for the society of St John Cantius to take over when they have enough priests.

Immaculate Conception, Jacksonville, Florida- Tridentine Mass Only
Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida
 
We kneel every other Sunday when only the Host is distributed. On the opposite weeks, we receive standing under both species. We receive kneeling at every daily Mass.

I won’t tell you what the parish is, lest someone from Downtown discover this and come make us stop!

I knew what you meant 😉 , It was more of a clarification for those unfamiliar with the parish.
