I had a bit of trouble with my Magic Eraser. I used it to clean the fingerprints off my kitchen cabinets. The cabinets are painted with white oil-based paint. Ever since the fingerprints disappeared (and it looks great, BTW), the paint has felt tacky. It’s been a couple of months, so if it was going to dry up, I would think it would have done so by now.

Anybody else have this happen?

Another cool old product is bluing. It is great for getting white clothes white, especially underwear! 👍

My favorite old product is a metal garlic press. I use it to make garlic fried rice. yummy.

My favorite new product is Aquaphor. It is not new but I learned about it recently. It does wonders for very dry skin and asthmatic dermatitis which my son has.

I’ve never used bluing, but have always been curious. Is it just added to the wash? How do you use it? I’m a bleach fan - everything pure white that can handle it gets a good bleach wash about every third wash, and all my white bath towels and bed linens get bleach in every wash. LOVE that squeeky clean smell of bleach!! 😃

:rotfl: It’s so funny that you said this b/c one of my best friends and I had this conversation recently re: cleaning the bathroom. We were saying that if it smells bleachy that means it’s clean (at least in our crazy little heads!). 👍

If you have a Target near you, try the Method brand of cleaners. They are all natural ingredients, no nasty chemicals, and they really do work quite well. You aren’t going to get the same results if you have a truly nasty cleaning job, but for routine cleaning they are great! And the scents are all very yummy like pink grapefruit, mint, water flower, etc.

They will also send you samples if you join their website. About two weeks ago they sent me a full size of their new bar soap and a full size body lotion. 👍 I’ve been a Method fan for years!

My wife and I are fans of Method home products, too. In particular, I love the bathroom cleaning products, as I don’t feel the tissues in my lungs burning like I did when we used Tilex.

We also use Seventh Generation dish products, and especially love the automatic dishwasher detergent. It contains no chlorine, and while the dishwasher is running, it releases a very light, pleasant scent (lemon or green apple).

Grapefruitseed Extract is our “everything product”, we use it for many health and cleaning uses, and its a bargin as little drops do big things. Here is the link telling about the one I use, with ways to use: nutriteam.com/index2.html
We used GSE to cure the yeast overgrowth problem in our son’s gut. This is a very effective anti-microbial product, and it didn’t carry the nasty side effects of prescription anti-fungal products (diflucan, etc.)

We stopped using bleach several years ago when we discovered that it caused a host of medical and behavioral problems in our oldest child. We’ve gone so far as to remove every chlorine-containing product from our home (including a shower head filter that neutralizes chlorine), and now, even the smell of swimming pool water makes me sneeze.

I actually ended up in the ER for just this sort of situation! I had used way too much in an enclosed space and thought I was going to cough up a lung! It was horrible!! So nice to finally have products that don’t rip your flesh from your body!

Witch Hazel. You can buy it for under $2 a bottle at any drug store or Walmart, etc… It’s a great astringent, great for bug bites, scratches, bruises, sore muscles, etc… My grandmother in Maine always swore by it and I do too!

I love Tar Soap. My grandmother used it to wash her hair. Grandma was right. It is great for the scalp and hair. It smells great too!

The commercial yellow bucket and wringer for me!!!

Our house is all tile (2400 sq ft) of it and having a commercial dustmop and a commercial mop helps tons, too!!

God Bless you all.

I am DYING to get Bare Minerals!!! EVERYONE I know who uses it swears by it! I should splurge on myself and get it…
It really works and it has SPF 15 protection built in. I’m a hard to match person for foundation and people just say my skin looks amazing. They have no idea I’m wearing a foundation. I’m still using the original container of mineral veil and foundation (full size not from the trial kit) that I bought last year!

My only caveat is don’t waste the money buying their brushes! You can get good quality brushes in the exact same styles from Sally’s Beauty Supply or some other place for much less! They even had another great brush brand available in the same Ulta store where I got my Bare Minerals if I had only noticed!

I love Clorox’s Oxi Magic. It is not the same as Oxy Clean and my family thinks it works better on super stubborn stains. Mom has had liver bile (green and horrible) leak from an external drain onto her clothing. This is the only thing that has cleaned it completely. It works on baby puke, old sweat stains and other horrible stains also.

I love the Tide stain pens which I have in the office, purse and at home. My first try was hot wing sauce (greasy and orange) on the front of an expensive white cotton skirt. The pen did the job and allowed me to get home hours later and wash the item only once.

I have been using vinegar for cleaning and disinfecting for years. Much less harsh than bleach and just as effective at killing germs. It also really freshens the wash.

I was advised by my dentist to use regular old hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse to prevent gum disease. He said it worked just as good as the expensive prescription rinse. He said to use about a tablespoon after brushing and swish it around for 2 minutes if I could stand it that long. Then you just spit a lot, but you are not supposed to rinse with water. I usually wipe my tongue off because it does taste icky.

I really love my neti pot. I watch Dr. Oz when he is on Oprah and he did a demonstration of this thing that looked like a little teapot which is used to clean out irritants and mucus from our nose and sinuses. It only requires warm water with a bit of salt mixed in to work. For several minutes after rinsing the nose with this pot more mucus is drawn down and you can gently blow your nose. I cannot believe how much it has helped clear my head even during severe allergy season! Using it after work will keep me clear all night.

Where do you get a neti pot? It sounds like something I would like to get for cold season.

I got mine at Walgreens Drugstore for just under $15. CVS drugstore has them also. I have seen them at online drugstores also. Mine was Sinucleanse brand and it came with about 30 little premeasured salt packets and a little spoon for mixing.

Thanks! 🙂 I have Walgreens and CVS close by. I’ll have to check them out.
