Hello,

I’m been switching up the music I listen as the music I once listened to was extremely blasphemous. I have been doing this by mainly listening to Classical, Soundtrack/Scores, and Gregorian Chants. With the exception of the Chants and some of the Classical works, all the music I listen to currently is lyricless. Anyways, I was introduced to Two Steps from Hell on a forum I used to post at, and I’m curious if there are any problems listening to the music because of the name. I know I may be over thinking this matter, but I thought it would be worthy of at least a question.

Looks like you and I are in the same situation and have the same musical taste. I asked the same question here earlier, though I sent another question to the CAF apologists and I am still waiting on an answer.

I love Two Steps! However, the fact that it has the word “hell” also concerns me. Also, I want to make sure that there are no subliminal / subtle Satanic and demonic messaging embedded in their tracks. Other than that… their music is pretty epic.

Btw what is your favorite Two Steps from Hell album? Mine is Invincible and Archangel

As someone who used to believe in stuff like that, I think it’s been debunked now. How would i ever be able to get “messages” that you can only “hear” playing the songs backward when oftentimes there are plenty of lyrics I miss both in French and English (2nd language) listening to songs? “Sub-liminal” (literally “under the threshold”), if something is under the threshold of perception, then it can’t be perceived at all, right? Blasphemous lyrics are way more problematic IMHO. If the band doesn’t sound like it’s worshipping death, filth, anything and everything ungodly, anti-God sentiments, corruption, hatred, rebellion, self-pity, then the mere presence of the word “Hell”= not a concern (IMHO).

Glad to see I’m not the only one with that overtly on the mind.

I’ve just started getting into them, but so far my favorite would be Nemesis.

Yes, you are over thinking it.
Thank you both for the helpful answers and (name removed by moderator)ut.

i was looking up music from this band, and saw a link to this thread, and thought i would help.
if you think of the name “two steps from hell” two steps, first step would be earth, the second step would be heaven (or so i have heard), makes sense to me at least. anyway, hope that helps set your mind at ease. now go listen to some good music 👍

So there’s a band called “Hello Cleveland” (presumably inspired by the Spinal Tap movie). Or there’s Pete Shelley from the Buzzcocks. Among others. Can’t see why those names are objectionable.
