Listening to the words of Jesus

“If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love. Just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: Love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you…It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.”–John 15:10-16

Some questions to ponder in light of the scripture passage:
  • You can answer the following questions privately
  1. How do you feel within as you read this passage of scripture?
  2. What does it mean to you to be chosen by God?
  3. Is there anything in this passage that makes you nervous, bothers you, upsets you?
  4. What in this passage gives you hope and joy?
  5. What do you need to do as an individual to make this pasage come true in your present life.

Thank you for posting this passage and the questions. It means a lot to me.

Withwind-You’re welcome, I actually received it from a weekend retreat back in 2006 with Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
