OK, I’m going to post one.

benedictgal, you are funny! I’ve never really liked “Only This I Want” that much and find the transition from chorus to verse awkward, but the text is good and my congregation will sing it. I am not a big fan of the OCP stuff, but having had “Glory & Praise” for many years in the pews, the congregation has learned and sings well on a number of those pieces. And after all, how could we survive without such G&P classics as “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Here I Am, Lord” ?
You mention “Shepherd of Souls;” do you mean “refresh and bless” or “in love come, feed us” ? I prefer the latter, but it is not as well known. I presume you mean the first.

Considering that my choir is singing “What Fairer Light” (text from the 5th century), I think that will help keep us on track with sacred tradition. Actually mine is a very conservative church, and I tend to use the expected traditional tunes on all the big feasts. This feast just doesn’t have so many “expected” hymns. My choir will also sing a contemporary but not well known song “Their Message Goes Forth” which quotes the Vigil Psalm. Actually, the congregation will probably get too much choir this weekend, as it is their final Sunday till fall and we will also sing a choral benediction. I will possibly sing “What Fairer Light” at the other Masses so that everyone gets to hear it (and so that it will please the pastor; we are mutually supportive of each other).

I enjoy “At That First Eucharist” and use it often as well.

It is a privilege to hear everyone’s analysis of the readings and the search for appropriate liturgical music. Can’t wait for the next interesting discussion.

Yes. I meant Shepherd of Souls, Refresh and Bless, your chosen pilgrim flock, with manna in the wilderness and water from the Rock.

We had a groundbreaking in October or so, but the building is beginning to go up!! Don’t have photos of that yet.It seems when I add new photos, everthing vanishes
I wanted to make the point by sharing these photos (and our home quality recordings) that not every church has the luxury of a cathedral with a million dollar pipe organ (our priest who is soon to be installed as our pastor’s last church was like that)

Sometimes you do the best you can with what you have and who the Lord has given you to work with. I think the photo of Fr. holding up the Host at consecration is just as beautiful and the presence is just as real against the window of a buisness office building as in a cathedral.Make sure to see that one, it’s my favorite.

Saints Peter and Paul
The solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul commemorates the martyrdom of both under Nero at Rome circa the year 65 and celebrate the founding of the Roman church.

Paul who had been Saul, persecutor of Christians, and Peter who had been Simon, fisherman from Galilee, became the leading figures of the early church, shaping its organization, theology, Catechesis, and missionary activity as it spread from Jerusalem to Rome.

The joint feast day of these two heroes of the acts of the Apostles has been celebrated on June 29 since the middle of the third century.

Peter has a separate feast, the chair of St. Peter at Rome, which falls on February 22 and commemorates him as first bishop of Rome.
