Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary

I just got a copy of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary from St. Bonaventure Press (pre Vatican-II). Are there any particular instructions about when one should stand, kneel, make the Sign of the Cross, etc.?
 
I have an older edition of the Little Office that I’ve used in the past. All of the instructions you mention were in the front. At first there was a lot of flipping back and forth, trying to remember what to do in various places. Eventually it got easier to remember. The only instruction I remember now is the make the sign of the cross at the beginning of the canticle.

Thanks for telling me about the Bonaventure Press version. I just ordered mine today. WARNING: Getting it direct from the publisher was 10 astronomical dollars for shipping. I found it at Aquinas and More for $4 and change. Phew!

On a related note, I used to use the Rotelle version which I personally found weak. It is not as bad as some of the reviewers at amazon.com said. (Including a claim that it was part of the Vatican II conspiracy to destroy the Church. Always one, isn’t there? 😉 )

Anyway, can’t wait to see it!

I will be soon getting the Rotelle version,so I would be interested in knowing in what areas you found it weak? Was it the ommission of things following the pattern of the older breviary in order to confirm to the pattern of the current LotH?
 
I’ve got the Rotelle version too, which I used as a springboard into Shorter Christian Prayer. I may, as time and resources permit, make the leap into Christian Prayer.

The translation wasn’t quite as good (meaning poetic, since the psalms are indeed poetry) as the internet versions which I’ve since seen at EWTN.com and other sites. And I found it a little too dumbed down as well.

As Lilly mentioned, I find the translation a little flat and uninspiring. Just my personal taste.
