So it is, we might say, “natural” for us to go first of all to the Bible to listen to the Word. But it is also true: “Through him all things were made.” The whole of the creation bespeaks its Maker. As the Greeks would say, the whole of creation is full of logoi, “little words,” that give expression to the Logos, the Word.
B. Pennington from his book Lectio Divina

The heavens shout forth the glory of God,
the vault of heaven proclaims his handiwork.
Day tells of it to day,
night to night hands on the word.
no sound that anyone can hear,
Yet their voice goes out through all the world,
their message to the ends of the earth. - Psalm 19

Dear Contemplative

I once heard a sermon from a Priest who stated that the glory of God was not to be found in creation and beautiful views etc, but in humans. I think he put forward a badly worded sermon there and I disagree, the glory of God is to be found in creation but moreso in humanity made in His Image and Likeness.

I received beautifully by the grace of God a profound conversion in faith in my search for truth in all of the beauty of the world around me, the worship of the stars and moon, the prayer of the moving grass and the higher prayer of the smile and kindness of a stranger, this small seed of light grew in my heart from observing the wonder of God’s creation in which I live.

I’d like to express how much I like your posts and threads and though I don’t always comment in them ( simply because I have nothing to add) I always read them. You bring such joy and thought provoking material to this forum and I thank God for you.

Without knowing and loving God a view is just a view and a human is just a human, but to live in His love illuminates all things and in all things God will illuminate the heart of the one whom He seeks so that they seek Him.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I can look upon the form and figure of a person, the wonder of a human body, the beauty of a human face, and know that God became a man and that God expresses himself in the beauty and nobility of every man and woman and child. I listen to the Word of God crying out in the degradation of the addict huddling in his filthy rags in the doorway of an alley, and my heart cries with the Word.

The photos I posted in my OP didn’t require permission of a person behind a face. 😉

*The Canticle of All Creatures
*
Most High, all-powerful, all-good Lord,
All praise is Yours, all glory, all honour and all blessings.
To you alone, Most High, do they belong,
and no mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your Name.

Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
Who is the day through whom You give us light.
And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendour,
Of You Most High, he bears the likeness.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars,
In the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air,
And fair and stormy, all weather’s moods,
by which You cherish all that You have made.

Praised be You my Lord through Sister Water,
So useful, humble, precious and pure.

Praised be You my Lord through Brother Fire,
through whom You light the night
and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.

Praised be You my Lord through our Sister,
Mother Earth who sustains and governs us,
producing varied fruits with coloured flowers and herbs.
Praise be You my Lord through those who grant pardon
for love of You and bear sickness and trial.
Blessed are those who endure in peace,
By You Most High, they will be crowned.

Praised be You, my Lord through Sister Death,
from whom no-one living can escape.
Woe to those who die in mortal sin!
Blessed are they She finds doing Your Will.
No second death can do them harm.

Praise and bless my Lord and give Him thanks,
And serve Him with great humility.
