A former priest in my parish had encouraged applause for the musicians at the end of Mass, and we have since done our best to stop it. As most of us can testify, bad habits and liturgical abuses are far easier to get started than to eliminate.In our country, applause after the Mass is fast becoming a norm, possibly introduced by the charismatic movement. I do not like it either as the Mass is reduced to a mere show. This is wrong catechesis for the younger generation.
