Interesting that the author of the article, an earnest and dedicated proponent of liturgical dance, moans that Rome, in forbiding liturgical dance in the west because of its connotations of courtship, has forgotten about “folk dance.” Since folk dance almost always includes dances that are formalized courtship rituals, that objection holds no water at all. As for whether or not folk dance has become sometimes overtly sexualized in western culture, watch Riverdance.
