During Mass the movement from tabernacle to altar is to be done by a priest or deacon.
Where does it say this? It’s been a topic of discussion elsewhere and knowing the GIRM or other citation would be helpful. Thanks.

Another reason for re-installation of altar rails is so that the sanctuary can be clearly defined and EMHCs don’t get confused. 🙂
Or we can just catechize the EMHCs and the congregation. If they get confused about who is the priest and who isn’t, the problems are much bigger than thinking an altar rail will solve anything. Where the seats/pews end usually is a fairly clear indication that the sanctuary is nearby, which the presence of the altar and Presider’s chair help reinforce. It’s fairly simple. An altar rail won’t help a thing. By the way, the 79 year old grandma who HASN’T been in the sanctuary for the entire Mass is rarely confused for the priest. At least in my parish… 🙂

I would suggest calling your Diocese Office of Worship and discuss it with them, If things of this nature takes place regularly in your Parish, things that are not up to what the GIRM says how they should be, the Office of Worship will probably suggest you write one of those dreaded letters to the Bishop.
I would first find the section of the GIRM that you believe to be directly violated. I just went through the whole thing and could not find a direct violation of the GIRM, not that I am saying that what was done was technically proper.

wait, but aren’t priests suppose to be the ones who protect the Church from abuses???🤷

**Since the romans started letting thier rite books be sold to anyone, Everyone is checking someones ritual form now. which is sort of good to a point, because some get lazy and instead of looking it up to see if they are doing it right, they just continue with it. and if you are cocelerbrating with someone it is sort of bad form to point out thier ritual errors. but the bishops should cocelebrate with each of thier priests to check thier ritual form. but bishops are in short supply and busy with thier regular duties too. so I dont know what to suggest to anyone. **

Send to the parish first. If that doesn’t work, then go to the bishop. But just go to the parish first. They’ll respond much quicker, from my experience.

You get to kneel for the Agnus Dei?! Lucky you. We’re not allowed to. The only reason I’ve been given is that no one in Europe kneels for that. But the UK isn’t really part of Europe, is it. 😉

But my knees still want to kneel, even after 11 years of not being allowed to.
No, in England and Wales we don’t kneel for the Agnus Dei, but immediately afterwards. This means that, unless the EMHCs start moving when it begins, they are walking while everyone else is kneeling. The Agnus Dei only takes a minute or so.

My son said he thought I was just sticking my nose into what didn’t concern me.

?
It may just be they don’t realize what you are saying and would have an “aha” moment if they did. I would, especially if it didn’t come across as judgemental.

There really isn’t a problem with bowing to the tabernacle, but it may just be a habit they didn’t think through. I think you are right, but maybe it is just something they didn’t think about.

I think it is a neat revelation on your part, but how would you pass that on? handle with care.

That’s what I meant - after 11 years my memory is a bit shaky. :o

My husband knows several of the people who make the error from the K of C. He is lector so he has volunteered to make a presentation about liturgical form at the next meeting, without singling anyone out. This error has been going on for a long time, so another month won’t matter. And maybe the priest will have a change of heart & decide to “undeputize” me!

I’m hoping & praying that I will need to say nothing - I’m really good at putting my foot in my mouth. 😦
