I have a non-practicing Catholic friend who recently attended mass with me. He asked me if I could get a guide book to the mass that containes all the prayers that are said in the mass, e.g., our father, the creed, etc. Does anyone know a good book that I can buy for this purpose?
 
The Daily Roman Missal is about a 1.5-2 inches thick and has everything in it you will ever need. It has prayers, a section on how to be a better Catholic, how to read Sacred Scripture. It will set you back about $55 or so, but it can be something that is handed on for a long time to come if taken care of.

In our parish we have extra missalettes that we give out to RCIA people and others who ask for them for good reasons. Why don’t you ask in the parish.
 
You might also want to try the monthly Magnificat, which has all of the readings and prayers of the Mass for the entire month. It also has an abbreviated form of the Morning and Evening Prayer, and it includes some nice hymns for each day.

It runs $5.95 and it’s a good investment. The yearly subscription runs about $39,95, but it also includes the Advent, Lenten and Rosary companions.
