Is it true that a liturgical day begins on the evening of the previous day?

If so, does this mean that Christmastide ends at around 5 o’clock tomorrow evening?

Thanks.

Not quite. The observances of solemnities, which are the highest feast days, and of Sundays begin at Vespers on the previous day. Other days, for instance the lesser feast days or Ash Wednesday, aren’t observed until after midnight.

My understanding is that Christmastide, which used to end with Epiphany, currently ends with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, so it isn’t over until Sunday Compline.

That agrees with my diocesan Ordo. It states that the Christmas season starts with Evening Prayer I for Christmas and extends through the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, in this case January 10.
