I’m not quite old enough to remember Mass being said in Latin, but I was always led to believe that Latin was supposed to have remained the language of the Mass, Gregorian Chant was supposed to have pride of place, and pipe organ music was supposed to be retained. Given what I know about the number of “cafeteria Catholics” I’d probably come down on the side of “all for a more faithful translation of the original.”

I’ve often wondered why the Latin Mass wasn’t just translated into the vernacular instead of rewritten…
