Liturgists who would make the liturgy more 'personal'

Hello All,
I am researching a dissertation on the Liturgy according to Cardinal Ratzinger. Would anyone be able to share any sources for liturgists who claim that there must be more personality and ‘active participation’ in the Holy Mass? My university is very ‘public’ and I need some ‘conversation partners’ for the Papa.

I don’t know if this is what you’re after, but I am a Lector. When I do the readings, I try to portray my interest and reverence for them. I don’t just stand up there gettin’ my monotone on like so many people do. I put some zip into it- but have never heard any negative feedback from any of the clergy, and I go to an old urban church.
 
I don’t know precisely what you are meaning by liturgists who desire more “personality”, but if you want conversation partners with Pope Benedict’s view on the liturgy a good place to start would be John Baldovin’s book “Reforming the Liturgy: A Response to the Critics”. He dedicates a good bit to critiquing Ratzinger’s views and treats him fairly at least, whatever one thinks of his critiques. That would probably lead to other sources. For a bit more criticism you could see Fr. Michael Joncas’ review of the above-named book which was in a recent issue of the journal Worship.

So you’re looking for people presenting what you will assert are incorrect interpretations of what “full and active participation” means. Is that accurate?

You could pretty much look at any Liturgy magazine from the U.S., like Ministry and Liturgy or Today’s Liturgy.

Fr. Robert Duggan is one guy who may fit the bill, too. Here’s his article Good Liturgy: The Assembly from America Magazine.
