is the Divine Hours by Phyllis Tickle a good book to use to pray the loth?

I have never heard of this version.

However, I would advise that you stay with Catholic Publishing, The Liturgy of the Hours.

This is the breviary used by the majority of priest and religious, including 3rd order groups.

If you ever decide to go that route, you’ll already have the proper version.

Can also use a one volume book called “Christian Prayer” which is just a one volume book of LOTH. I use this one and like it cause I didn’t have to buy 4 books at $38 each.

The one-volume is handy to have around, especially for communal Divine Office in a parish setting, but it does not include the full texts for the Office of Readings, Daytime Prayer, or many of the Propers of Saints. Priests, religious, and seminarians almost always use the four volume set, which is worth the investment. For those that prefer another English translation, the three volume Divine Office from England is a good choice. I am not familiar with Phyllis Tickle, however.
