As the thread title explains, I have just a few more questions. I usually have used the Shorter Christian Prayer book, but I finally got the big Chirstian Prayer book a few months ago and am still trying to familiarize myself with it.

First question is about NIght Prayer (Compline). There seems to be a Night Prayer for every day of the week except for Saturdays. So…what do we do on Saturday nights?

Next question…(I have actually asked a version of this one before, so please forgive the redundancy but I’m finding I need more clarification.) Where do I fit in the Office of the Readings, and how do I know which one to read on each particular day?

Thanks in advance for any responses. 🙂

Look at page 1034. See how it says “after evening prayer ONE”? Then on page 1037 it says “after evening prayer TWO”? This is secret code 😉 for Saturday night (one) and then Sunday night (two). Evening Prayer number One is said on Saturday evening, see? It is like a Vigil thing, I think. Someone who knows more about the LOTH could explain better. But that will get you saying the right thing tonight. 🙂 Say the night prayer on page 1034 (I’m assuming you are in the USA time zone and it is Saturday night right now).

It doesn’t have the full readings for the office of readings in Christian Prayer.

Pug is correct that on Saturday nights (and nights before Solemnities) you should use the “After Evening Prayer One” for Night Prayer.
Also, while the Office of Readings in Christian Prayer does not have the full number of texts that the four-volume set does, it is still perfectly acceptable to pray the Office of Readings from that version. It may be said at any time of the day, or as a vigil on the previous day if prayed after Evening Prayer of that previous day.
