Hello

I am about to leave on holiday, where I will have no internet. I own the four volume Liturgy of the Hours set. I was wondering when I will need to switch from Book I: Advent Season - Christmas Season to Book III: Ordinary Time: Weeks 1-17. Which date will I need to switch? I am hoping to only take one away with me. I won’t be back home until early January, so I was wondering whether I needed to take both books or whether Book 1 would suffice.

God Bless.

Edited to add: I am new to the Liturgy of the Hours, so I still need to work out some things.

Volume 1 is in use until Sunday, 12 January, inclusive. Volume 3 picks up the next day.

I believe some publishing house in the USA produces a guide called St. Joseph’s Guide. It tells you on every day of the year which Office to say and in which volume and on which pages you need to be. It may be worth investing in.

I am quite jealous really because no equivalent is published, to my knowledge, by anyone for us here in England. We use what is called the ‘Divine Office’ and ours is a three-volume set. I don’t know about the US 4-voulme LOTH, but I don’t always find the rubrics in our Office the clearest. I find myself reading them several times before I’m sure what they mean.
