The Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office, as has been said earlier, is the Prayer of the Church. This goes along with the Mass.
Now I have a question. Why does it seem that people are quick to suggest versions of the Office that are not the official approved versions? When one uses something than the official approved versions from their region they are not truly practicing the Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office, they are rather performing a private devotion.
When people ask about the Mass why don’t we point them to all the other rituals out there rather than just the approved Mass? They could sit at home an pray those as private devotions as well.
Truly the Liturgy of the Hours/Divine Office are only those works that are approved of by the Church, so when a question comes up about the LoTH/Divine Office we should restrict our answers to such. If a person is interested in a private devotion that mirrors the Office but with the understanding that it is not the Office then let them say so and then we can answer accordingly.
