Liturgy of the Hours question

I have been praying the Liturgy of the Hours for a while now. I just realized that the Nativity of St. John the Baptist is coming up and it is considered a solemnity. I pray with the book called Shorter Christian Prayer. How do you pray the solemnity? Do you just use the prayers from Sunday? If you do use the prayers from Sunday what week of the Psalter do you use, is it the week that we’re on now (and if I’ve been doing this right we should be on Week 4) or would it be a different week? Thanks for any help.

The prayers for the Nativity of John the Baptist come from a section called the Proper of Saints that is not found in Shorter Christian Prayer (it’s found in Christian Prayer and the 4 volume LOTH). You will be able to find those propers on a website like divineoffice.org.

The one thing you would be able to do is pick the right Psalms. The Psalms and Canticle for Solemnities and Feasts are always taken from Sunday Week 1 for the Morning Prayer. You would then normally take the rest (reading, responsory, Gospel canticle, intercessions, prayer) from the Propers (which you don’t have). The other thing you can do is use the right Night Prayer (use Saturday for the day before and Sunday on the day of).
 
Thank you very much, I have a copy of Christian Prayer and I found it in there so I will use that to pray on the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.
 
Note that Divine Office is a good source for the Hours. One can get specific days by adding the date to the address - divineoffice.org/? date=20110623 - Omit the space after the ?. However, they are still getting organized so do not have them more than a day or so in advance. [Note that they also have them on audio.]
