i want to start the liturgy of the hours savior.org/devotions.htm
this site has them online and also i like to pray the Rosary would it be wrong if i replaced then evening liturgy with a rosary? Edit: i am going to say the night prayers though

Your prayer life is really up to you. If you are under some sort of obligation to pray Evening Prayer, then no, but otherwise you can pray the Rosary instead. I do recommend saying Evening Prayer if you can, as it compliments Morning Prayer and allows you to experience more of the psalms and the canticle and scripture reading are from the New Testament.

I say the Liturgy of the Hours and I find that it has changed the way I see things, it gives a rythym to my day and lines from the psalms come to mind easily, it is changing me into a better person. I think without the Evening prayer this would be more difficult.

It is up to you, good luck with whatever you decide. God Bless.

It would not be wrong since you do not belong to a religious order this would be fine.

Keep praying the liturgy of the hours

only the ordained and professed religious are required to pray the LOTH so you can pray any of the hours you choose

There are also those in the secular branches of various orders that make promises or take vows that are required to pray the LOTH or parts thereof.

The rosary is called the “people’s psalter.” It developed from the peasantry who did not have time to recite the LOTH as those living in nearby monasteries did.
As already mentioned, you are not obligated to pray the LOTH. Your personal lifestyle will determine which hours you choose to pray. Morning (Lauds) and Evening (Vespers) are considered the anchor hours. I often only pray one of these hours.

Perhaps you might consider dropping OOR and/or the Daytime Offices , and keep the Evening prayer. Morning and Evening prayer are the two Offices that have the Intercessions.:gopray2:

I would reccemend this site:

The one you linked to above is not the official translation, so it’s not really the liturgy of the hours. But that’s another discussion.

what does it mean by ant? those ones confuse me 🤷
Do you mean in the Invitatory (the one that loads by default)? That stands for antiphon. The invitory is like a responsorial psalm. For example, today’s antipon is given at the begining. Today’s is: Cry out with joy to the Lord all the Earth, serve the Lord with gladness.

You would say that everytime is says Ant.

Does that make sense now?

It’s not wrong, per se, because you don’t have an obligation to pray the LOTH. But because the texts they use are different, sites like the ones you use aren’t really the liturgy of the hours, but a paraphrase of it.

As TheMc stated the divine office website is a great place to start.

If you really want to learn this yourself there is a free downloadable Liturgy of the Hours tutorial at

rosaryshop.com/

Also, if you’re using Christian Prayer you can find the links to the daily pages at the following web site
