Hi,

Quick question on the Liturgy of the Hours.

So today is Friday. Tonight, should I be praying Saturday Evening Prayer or Friday Evening Prayer?

And, if the answer is Saturday Evening Prayer, what about Night Prayer?

Thanks in advance

Tonight, you should be doing Friday evening prayer for the 34th week in ordinary time.
Then, later the Friday Night Prayer.

Tomorrow, Saturday morning prayer (34th week of ordinary time), and then for the evening, this begins Advent, with Sunday, Evening Prayer 1, 1st week of Advent (new luturgical year - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!)

Please see this link, and it will give you all the pages, if you have a LotH book(s):

It wouldn’t happen to be a solemnity in your area on Saturday would it? Some are local, such as dedication of the local cathedral or a patron saint.

If it is a solemnity on Saturday you’d pray Evening Prayer I for the solemnity. But otherwise, you would do as above, you always pray Evening Prayer of the current day except for Saturday evening (which is EP I of the Sunday) and solemnities.

Friday evening you pray Friday evening Prayer
there is no “Saturday evening prayer” there is “Evening Prayer I for Sunday” which we pray Saturday evening.
you pray night pray of the day of the week before bedtime, and evening prayer at the general time the work day ends.

If Saturday were a solemnity you would pray “Evening Prayer I” for that feast on Friday evening.
