Grace and Peace,

I pray the Liturgy of the Hours but I’m not clear as when they are actually to be said…

Particularly the Little Hours (terce, sext, and None)?

Any help would be appreciated.

God Bless.

Terce, Sext, and None (called Daytime Prayer in modern parlance), is to be prayed between Morning and Evening Prayer, at no particular time (in the current instruction). Historically, Terce was designated for the 9 o’clock hour, Sext for noontime, and None for the 3 o’clock hour.

In Christ,

You spoiled rotten modern kids. Back in the good old days, we got up at Midnight for Matins, 4 AM for Vigils, 7 AM for Prime, and after the small hours we had Vespers and Compline. We only got 7 hours of sleep a dayand we LIKED it that way:rolleyes:

Sissy! 😃

When I go on retreat at the Trappist Monestary, Vigils are at 3:15AM. Laudes followed by Mass is at 6:40 AM.

And walked through four feet of snow, three miles to the chapel for each hour - uphill both ways. 😃

Well, the Catholic School and Parish I attended as a child, was on the opposite hill from the hill I lived on.

So, it is in fact true, that I walked up hill, both ways, when I went to school and church, and yes, if they didn’t cancel school, through the snow. 😃
