Well, everyone let me say first I am putting this thread here to inspire others that were in our situation to do the same. I would really not like any praise for doing the right thing now as that goes against my quest for greater humility and I really would not like to get beat down for having done the wrong thing in the first place as none of us are perfect to begin with.

My df and I have been engaged for over a year. We will be married very soon but we have dealt with considerable stresses. We have grown spiritually as a couple in many ways. About a month ago we decided to correct our past actions and live as brother and sister even though we had been living together over a year. The experience has been a very positive one as we have grown even closer through celibacy. It is difficult at times to avoid the temptation but we help each other through it. He is a wonderful man and in doing this I believe we have truly shown each other that we are willing to do anything to grow spiritually as a couple.
I would highly encourage other cohabitating unmarried couples to do the same.

God bless,

God bless,
I am glad that at this point you are living as brother and sister, but one thing you might not know that no matter how you treat each other, living together in the same roof in your situation can cause scandal - It allows other people to think that it is ok to live together - they will follow your example but they can do more harm than good. This itself is a sin, and you need not to assume everybody will do the right thing when they share the same roof.

Another issue is that you both are constantly putting each other at risk - the Devils are not far and they are waiting to snatch the opportunity for you to sin.

I suggest that you both pray hard and make an effort to move out and live separately even if things seem to be impossible. If you do this for the love of God, He will make the impossible possible for you two.

God will bless you abundantly. I hope you have the courage to move out. 🙂

I appreciate your comments but there were many reasons we started living under the same roof - most were financial and the rest were my in-laws. He had to have knee surgery in March of the beginning of the year and could not work at his job in professional athletics. His parents have been at odds with him and even to court with him over his daughter. It has been pretty ugly so it was better for me to support him than for him to go to them because it was impossible for him to be alone at the time especially with the affect the surgery had on his other medical condition which was terminal until a year ago. At this point I think we can make it the 11 days we have left without being overly concerned about temptation or scandal.

God bless,
