I live in Canada and even in my part of the country (the Prairies) hostility towards Christianity and Christians exists.
There are times where I feel despair and other times I find peace. Jesus told us we will be despised by the world.
Just looking for some coping methods as I feel defeated, as if the struggle is lost.
Reflect on the Beatitudes, the Gospel of John and Revelation. On the early Christians. On how house churches continue to exist in Iran. How Christianity manages to exist in North Korea. Ultimately, Jesus won when He was on the Cross.
It’s important to note how the ‘Christian’ culture in the West were deeply flawed reflections of real Christianity. Most were Christians in name only. It was a routine they followed. They didn’t have real faith. Now that the routines have fallen out of popularity a majority of them have left.
I pray daily for the world, and look to the Saints, but how does one evangelize in a world that resembles more closely first century Rome than anything else. I feel sadness for this…
What did the early Christians do? There’s nothing new under the sun.

. But the controlled fore-planned suicide is a challenge to the notion that we need to do everything to keep a person alive despite the results.
This is not Catholic teaching. We are instructed to provide food and water to the dying, but it’s not necessary to use extraordinary means to prolong life.
I recommend as an alternative letting everybody you know that you don’t want anything unplugged when your time comes. Say it with a smile.
There’s nothing against Catholic teaching in being “unplugged,” if for example you are on a ventilator that is keeping you breathing. Of course, if there is a good chance that you can recover, maintaining respiration by artificial means is justified. But if there is no chance of recovery, one is allowed to avoid prolonging life.
