I was taken in a few years ago by a co-worker of mine. She offered me help(a place to stay, money…) when I needed it the most. Now, I have stopped having sex with her, but wish to still remain in the same household as friends. Could I actually go to confession after doing it with her for so long, but not anymore?

Have you tried posting this question on Ask an Apologist? You would get the definitive answer from an apologist.

There is no time that you cannot go to confession. However, for the confession to be valid there would have to be a firm purpose of amendmant not to continue the sinful behavior.

Cohabitation (from what I understand) is probably a grave sin since it could cause scandal and you’re still in an occasion of sin since you would still be living with someone who you’re attracted to and risking the temptation of sexual intercourse.

However, I reccomend you talk this over with a priest. It would be wise to move out but I don’t know your exact situation so I would reccomend talking this over with a good priest so that you can find peace.

Every time we say the “Our Father” we say the words…lead us not into temptation. Even if you make a good confession, you are not leading yourself away from temptation…so move out and still remain friends. In your heart, I think you know this. Pray on it, and act on it accordingly. You will be comforted by these actions.

I’m actually in a slightly similar situation. Check out this thread for good discussion and links.

Move out. You only hurt yourself and her by staying. Let’s say you meet the woman of your dreams, tomorrow. How do you explain you’re living with a woman you used to do, but not anymore? Say she meets the man of her dreams…how are you going to feel coming home and hearing them doing it? If you have any respect for her dignity or your own, you will move out. Sorry to be so harsh…but I’ve been around the block a few times. This situation likely won’t end well.
