Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This Holy Week, Easter and this week within the Octave of Easter have been very “special” for me – and I hope for you all as well.

“Why” you may ask, is it more special than any other celebration of these days? To be honest, it is due to God’s Grace given “new” every day as He promised to those who ask, seek and keep knocking on the door.

As I shared the hymn “Stabat Mater” each day of Holy week, I was also re-reading Vol. 2 of Pope Benedict’s trilogy on “Jesus of Nazareth”. It was in and through his words that I began to sense something difficult to describe but yesterday and this morning, I discerned that truly the Lord gives to His Church every Easter a renewal of “NEW LIFE”. Like ALL His Grace, He sends New Life in Jesus, through Mary.

This “call” to holiness is becoming more urgent and it is being either accepted or rejected by many inside and outside the Church today. That is not new for it has always been a battle between Good and evil in the world since the fall of lucifer and the fall of our first parents. We, however, must stand with Mary, at the Cross, if we are to reign with Him as she does.

The “New Life” given to us in Christ by His Victory on the Cross, is not the same as “natural life”!!! At Baptism, we were given a miraculous share in Divine Life, Supernatural Life, by which we were taken “out of darkness and into Light” by the infusion of The Trinity and the great gifts of Supernatural Faith, Hope and Charity, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We died with Christ and rose with Him!

All this was known to me before, though God’s Goodness in giving me many opportunities to learn what the Catholic Church teaches, but re-reading Pope Benedict’s account of Jesus in His Passion, Death, and Resurrection gave me something more. I “knew” on Easter Sunday Morning, how special it was to renew our Baptismal promises and today I am more convinced of the Truth: Baptism is the beginning of Eternal Life in union with God in the perfection of Charity.

May the Lord continue the Good Work He has begun in all whom He has called, and is calling into Himself. I continue to sing two songs from Holy Thursday and Easter: “May we one Bread One Body be, in this Blessed Sacrament of unity.” and “We will draw water joyfully, singing joyfully , singing joyfully. We will draw water joyfully from the fountain of salvation.”

Alleluia! He is Risen, just as He said! Alleluia!

Dear “Camehome4john6”,

Thanks for your “heart” to let me know you liked the post. It is a blessing to be alive in Christ, and continually to thank God for all He has done for us. May we learn as our Mother Mary did, by the power of His Holy Spirit, to listen with the ears of our hearts to all Jesus said and did, and ponder all in our hearts that by His Grace, we may do the Truth we hear.
