So, I’m just trying to find out the exact answer to this.
I’ve grown up with the idea that you should not live together and have sex until you are married. Which I totally agree with.
Ok, so what if you are living together - whether or not you are engaged, boyfriend & girlfriend or just good friends - and not having sex, would this then be a sinful circumstance???

I’ve looked in the Catechism but cannot find anything so far on this…will keep looking though, but any help would be really appreciated 🙂
Thanks!

Well, you’d have to be careful not to cause a scandal (make people think you are having sex). This might be more appropriate for senior citizens who are related (brother/sister). But there’s all sorts of answers to that question, aside from the scandal part.

I think that if you can live together and be really strong in Jesus there shouldnt be a problem. But best be avoided just in case.

No …one should not “live together” prior to Marriage…

Unless one IS brother and sister 🙂

The sinfulness would depend in part on the extent to which it would be a near occasion for sin, or a cause of scandal.

Living together could place you or your girlfriend in an occasion of sin. It is wisest to avoid all occasions of sin. Basically, because we all have original sin, cohabitation could very likely lead to fornication, and fornication is a very grave sin.

Ok thanks 🙂
This is what I thought as well.
What about going on a camping trip, guys and girls, or just going away together??

Just the two of you?
Aside from the temptation to fornicate, you would still scandalous (your family and friends would know that you and your partner went on a vacation together alone, and may think it is ok for Christians to do such, thus putting themselves at risk too)

Yep I agree!
A friend asked, what about going away as a group of friends…none boyfriend and girlfriend just all good friends. Would this or could this still be an occasion of sin?

Sounds like a remote occasion of sin, not a near occasion of sin. Might not be very scandalous, but you should ask your priest.

What if one of the persons children and grandchildren is living with them and they sleep in seperate rooms and do not do anything wrong? They are engaged to get married and will as soon as possible
