My understanding is that living trusts are legally binding with respect to medical directives, funeral arrangements, etc.

My question is this: What does a Catholic do when one’s spouse (who is also Catholic) enters directives in their living trust that are contrary to Church teaching? For example, the husband wants to be cremated and have his ashes scattered upon his death. What recourse does the wife have who does not want to act contrary to Church teaching in this regard, but is legally bound by the provisions of the trust? Or is she?

Thanks for your help, and God bless you.
