Living without mastrubation

All of the health books I have read throughout school have described “masturbation” as a healthy “experience” (for lack of a better word). I’ve even heard that it reduces the chance of prostate cancer in men, and that I would likely wish to do. How about you?
The thing with masturbation, alongside the lustful thoughts often accompanied, is that in it we fail to capture the full God given humanity of people… In reducing or restricting people to their bodies, and how those bodies might satisfy our lower (sexual) appetites.

Totally false. One can fantasize that one is in love and married with the woman having sex with.

Well no…ejaculation is the physically healthy experience. Masturbation is only one way to achieve that. When there is more than one way to achieve a goal, don’t you think it is worthwhile to investigate whether any of them are morally wrong?

How concerned are these “health” books with the health of your soul?

Enjoy masturbation while you can. I’m a 15 year old boy and thats my motto.👍
Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

It will not stop at 15. It will enslave you.

I started when I was maybe 10 or 11. I found out it was mortal sin shortly after. After that, it took seven years of daily, non-stop struggle and frequent bouts of depression and spiritual stagnation before the Lord set me free. There are others who have struggled and are still struggling for longer.

If this is what the OP wants, then by all means heed the quoted advice. If you would prefer heaven, I’d steer clear.

And masturbation is not only morally wrong but is a deadly sin as per the Bible.

That’s why God demanded Onan’s life, for “Spilling his seed.”

Investigation complete. Case closed.

Quite honestly, I think it’s extremely unlikely that a young healthy person who is unmarried is able to go years without any form of masturbation at all. … One way or another, the release has to come out.
You seem to leave little room for God’s grace. Real self control is available from Jesus Christ. Excuse me but have you no faith?

This thread has so many screwed up responses in it.

*The concern of the flesh is death, but the concern of the spirit is life and peace. For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:6-8)*Is there any behavior other than masturbation which can be so wholly classified as being “In the flesh?” You cannot masturbate and please God. Mortal sin. Period.

God did not give us marriage as a coping mechanism for sin. Ask any sex addict, they thought their troubles would be over when they got married and the only thing that happened is that they brought their habitual sexual sin into their marriage and destroyed lives. Marriage was not intended as a cork in the bottle of concupiscence.

Equites Christi is absolutely right. Masturbation will enslave you. It took me 33 years. I know people who have gone to jail because they couldn’t control themselves.

Consider masturbation as well in light of society’s demand for instant sexual gratification without consequences. Sex has become an on demand recreational sport and the result is homosexuality, disease, teen pregnancy and 1.5 million abortions each year. You are contributing to this mentality when you flip open the laptop, fire up the porn website and say, “Ah, hooey, it doesn’t hurt anyone.”

*If (one) part suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy. Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. (1 Corinthains 12:26-27)*We all seem to have forgotten that we are **MEMBER OF THE ONE BODY OF CHRIST **and just as our own suffering can contribute to the redemption of others, our own personal sins disrupt the entire fabric of mankind’s relationship to God.

*For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19)*Masturbation is not just about your own salvation. You are crucifying Jesus and letting Satan win!

The good news is that Jesus came to “Take away the sins of the world.” Or did that not apply to sexual sins?

Its not a habit I ever developed. I only first heard about it when my brother mentioned that a friend of him had used this word we had never heard of before. So we asked my Dad what it was, he briefly explained it. I was immediately grossed out and had no problem accepting that it was immoral behavior. It took me awhile to come to a clear understanding about how common the sin was and to not be so judgmental of people who commit the sin.

. . . can’t wait to see you with a driver’s license! Yessir. . .
I actually consider myself a pretty stable person. My parents have always told me that masturbation is a normal activity in the life of an adolescent boy. I don’t see why you think my driving would be any less exceptional than a boy who “holds it in”. I ask myself myself if I wan’t to reduce my risk of prostate cancer, and I think my answer is fairly responsible. I also have identified for years as being homosexual (I have written a couple threads on this forum about that), sex is out of the question for me, so then it’s understandable when I say that I want to enjoy it while I can.

To the person on this thread that said homosexuality is a result of masturbation, I say that is nonsense. I have been attracted to members of my own sex (5 or 6, playing little league football) long before I started masturbating (around 11, or maybe 12). There can be no question as to the semantics of that.

According to the Church, I have SSA (which is intrinsically disordered), and must live alone for the rest of my life. I don’t suppose thats a problem for men who come home to their wifes for sex every week.

I’m just trying to give you guys an idea of where I’m coming from when I say “I want to enjoy it while I can”.

Maybe I’m just truly addicted, but this is something that has bugged me for quite some time. Excepting married people who can get their release morally, it’s very hard for me to imagine stopping completely. Maybe cut back, but stopping?

For example, what do you do when you feel that urge? Since this topic is about masturbation, I’ll just be blunt. It doesn’t even necessarily need porn, just time. It starts out as a tingle, but grows until it’s all I can think of, and the only consistently successful way I’ve had of stopping it is masturbation. I’ve done activities to postpone it, but that works sometimes but not always. Sometimes it just delays it until bedtime. When I’m laying down, trying to sleep, nothing else to do, my hands just stray.

I know it’s a sin, but I don’t see much other way. I’ve gotten that I was, but I haven’t gotten to the point of outright quitting.

Also, since this is on topic, I’ll just bring this up. Some part of me fears hurting my libido. I mean, I plan on getting married someday, and when that happens, I want to please my wife. Something about ‘don’t use it, you lose it’ scares me, because I don’t want to lose it.

“Use it or lose it” doesn’t apply to the libido. I mean, just think about it. Did you do anything to bring forth the feelings now? No, so why should that change?

In answer to your other question, if I may be equally blunt, perhaps you could wear shorts to bed?

Prayer is the true answer, however. Pray for chastity.

Just be aware that some enjoyable rides end very badly.
Well your enjoyable ride won’t end. Your a straight married male I’m assuming. Right? You are allowed to have sex with your wife. I should think this would be certainly truth. Well, while you do that I will be living the rest of my life as if I am a priest (even though it was no choice of my own); I know this is a regression from the OP, but it just seems completely unfair. It’s probably exceedingly easy for you to tell someone to wait for their wedding bed, when they are honoring God, but what about those like me that will never be able to experience sex.

It almost seems like I’m being made to play a losing game.

It’s hard enough to refrain from masturbation, but a life without sex or masturbation seems an impossibility for someone to live.

Sorry if this reply draws from the original question, it just seems to me like some have it harder than others.

What if she doesn’t want to when I do?
What then?

No matter what your vocation, you are to honor God. Misusing your sexuality dishonors God.

Seems like you have made sex a god. Have you?

Yes some do. I don’t think you are one who has it harder though. Have you been persecuted for your faith like Steven? Or Paul? Or Peter?

Sex is an essential part of life, and it’s only reasonable that I should find it irratating to have drawn the short stick; or rather given the short stick.

I hardly consider Homosexuality a vocation. Seems more likely to be a curse.

I can hardly imagine you know what it’s like to cringe every time your parents question your sexuality, knowing that once you’ve gotten it out their it’s off your chest, but by no means will they ever think of you the same way. I haven’t even come out by the way, nor do I intend to. I think I am one who has it harder than other boys my age, infact I’m quite certain many in my position would have already tied the noose by now.

On the contrary, I feel as though life is God, and all his many aspects (Id est. birth, death, and everything in between) are things which ought to be experienced, as well as enjoyed in temperance. After all, we have learned from the hedonists that over-indulgence isn’t without it’s consequences.

As a totality humans need sex for the propagation of the species, however for any individual it is not essential. No one has died from lack of sex.

Neither do I. It is a disorder.

Jesus would call it a cross to bear while following Him.

Since I am not similarly afflicted, I agree I don’t really know what you are going through. God loves you enough to give you the grace needed avoid sin and grow in holiness.
