A reply to the idle chat about the Handmaids of Nazareth, which is based on completely false rumors about the Handmaids of Nazareth: they were absolutely not disbanded by the Bishop of Peoria. They decided to leave that diocese.

The statement that there are two splinter groups is true.

The Handmaids of Nazareth humbly continue their work for God
and offer to Him the falsehoods that have been and continue to be spread about them, uniting this with Christ’s passion.

Any further negative chat that one reads on this forum about the Handmaids of Nazareth is based on lack of knowledge and/or deliberate misinformation and certainly not based in charity.
Then in charity, show us an updated website with accurate information, or give us the information, and we will be more than happy to disseminate it.

I understand entirely the falsehoods bit–our Cloisterites are going through it right now.

Blessings,
Cloisters

I happen to have a copy of the letter formally disbanding the group, from the Bishop’s office, dated March 2005.

Anyone who wants to verify this is perfectly able to do so, simply by contacting the Peoria diocese.

Proof enough?

The Handmaids of Nazareth officially withdrew from the Peoria Diocese on March 28, 2006; they were not disbanded by the bishop there. If anyone subsequently wrote a letter stating that the Handmaids of Nazareth were disbanded and backdated the letter to before that time, then it is on that individual’s conscience. If it is in a file somewhere, then it was falsely put there. No such letter was ever sent or received.

To Cloister - the HN website will be updated soon. I’m sorry the Cloisterites are also suffering from rumors and deceptions. Our
Lord, when He walked this earth, was a Man of sorrows and persecution and we who are called to espouse Him must undergo the same as we follow Him. Surely the sufferings we endure are nothing compared to His! But from our human perspective they
surely do hurt, don’t they? Yet sadly, they hurt our Jesus even more!

Surely, there is something incoherent in this thread…The
only Handmaids who left the Peoria Diocese were those who
never lived there to start out with & over whom the Bishop had
no real control & who, apparently were doing their own thing…
The Handmaids who were living there, just continued under a
different name & under the Bishop`s control. Some of the
others, then joined the new approved group & are living in
or around Peoria or have his permission to reside outside
the diocese. There is nothing uncharitable about that. In
fact, Praise God! - another new congregation to give Him
more love & honor and to work for the spread of His King-
dom.

The Handmaids of Nazareth do and will continue to offer to Jesus the sufferings caused them by the unjust words of others. For now we shall do so in silence, following His example at the beginning of His passion. Therefore, herein no more shall be said.

Praise be Jesus Christ!
