Last night I was walking the quarter mile from the bus stop to my home and I encounter a pair on young women Latter-day Saint missionaries–well one of them, the “elder” was talking to an upstreet neighbor whose house they were in front of (and this neighbor I know IS LDS–we live about 3/4 of a mile, as the crow flys, from the Mesa Temple)

“Hello (says she) I’m from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have you familar with the Gospel”

“Why yes, I’m Catholic”

“But do you know about the teachings about the Restored Gospel?”

“Actually, I’ve known of LDS teachings for over 30 years” (having first encountered some of their stuff in my high school’s library)

After a few minutes of the standard LDS sales pitch, I say the Holy Spirit has confirmed to me the teachings of the Catholic Church over the claims of LDS–AND I have history, anthrolpology linguistics, archeology, biology, etc… that confirm the evidence of the civilizations described in the Bible and after 178 years of the BoM’s publication, NO evidence supporting LDS’s claims of like civilizations in the America.

“Well, logic is of the Devil”

“What, you said , “logic is of the Devil”?”

“Yes”

We parted on that with a mutual “God bless”

Yeah, that is about all they have left. I will pray for them. Looks like they are almost there.

Poor Mormons, the cognitive dissonance must be debilitating.

Logic is of the devil? I’m not even sure how to respond to that except with astonishment. I guess the sisters have learned how to protect their ‘faith’ by assuming that any argument which is counter to what they’ve decided to be true is of the Devil. Pretty convenient stance.

But that is exactly what the Mormons teach - anything that disagrees with Mormonism is “anti-Mormon” and comes from Satan.

REmember, contention is of the devil. We should sustain our leaders-- when the brethren have spoken, the thinking has been done.

Are female “missionary teams” something new? I’ve only ever encountered the pairs of young men. Or is it because you’re just walking distance from their temple?

Compared to their male members, the female missionaries are pretty few–I suspect most of them get assignments close to home (Hence here in Mesa, Arizona, a.k.a “Salt Lake City South”😃 )
